Hill for a 2nd rounder is a fail.

We dedicated roughly 7M (Kaman and Hill) to a frontline we rarely used. Incidentally, that is about the amount we're over the tax apron. Mismanagement at its best.

And speaking of mismanagement...

The Sacramento Kings are finalizing a deal to send guard Marcus Thornton to the Brooklyn Nets for guard Jason Terry and forward Reggie Evans, league sources told Yahoo Sports. Talks intensified this week and pushed close to full completion on Wednesday morning, league sources said.

If the Nets were to complete deals for Thornton and Hill, the team's salaries and luxury tax would reach $210 million.

Thornton to Nets is a done deal...not sure how it affects Hill to the Nets now.

.@Howard Beck is reporting Hill-to-Nets deal might be a “longshot” right now. If that’s the case, PHX could ultimately be where he lands.

Sean Deveney @SeanDeveney
Told it is unlikely the Nets will keep after Jordan Hill. Probably couldn't re-sign him anyway -- he didn't much like NYC the first time

Hill to Phoenix? The hell?

If it gets us that Minnesota pick, I guess.

Bill Oram
Jordan Hill after practice today: "Anybody can be traded. If anything happens, I definitely enjoyed my time here."

Pau being held out of the game tonight also....maybe we expanded the Phoenix deal to include Hill. If Pau and HIll are gone for Okafor and a minimum contract that we waive, LA is under the tax apron.

Dave McMenamin @mcten
The Phoenix Suns and Dallas Mavericks have also talked to the Lakers about acquiring Jordan Hill, according to a league source.

Jordan hill is a hot commodity. Send him with pau to Phoenix. Archie Goodwin and a mid 1st rounder is a nice haul for pau and hill

Adrian Wojnarowski: Among teams who could still redirect Jordan Hill away from Brooklyn, watch for the Phoenix Suns, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Either way, Hill is a goner...once Woj reports it, you know something will go down.

Wow, Nets owner okays the deal to bring in Hill (which will cost them about 17M). Its up to the Lakers now...

The Nets completed the first trade of deadline week, landing guard Marcus Thornton, and could be close to making another move, bringing in Lakers big man Jordan Hill.

Yahoo! Sports first reported the Nets’ interest in Hill, but sources told Sporting News that Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov gave the green light on Wednesday afternoon to a trade that would bring Hill—who was drafted by the Knicks—back to New York City.

Cavs are back in the mix....
Marc Stein @ESPNSteinLine
Hearing now that Cavs have strongly emerged as team trying to trump BKN and acquire Jordan Hill from Lakers. Looks like Cavs & Nets for Hill

Also remember how they wanted Pau once upon a time...and how they have Deng, who they are looking to trade....

I don't think they're necessarily looking to trade him...

But what if we pulled off

Gasol/Hill for Deng/1st? :man10:

This is good. If we don't intend to pay Hill, we should absolutely trade him. Get rid of every contract we don't intend to keep/extend. Nets, Suns, it doesn't even matter. Just get something for Hill and Gasol. Both good players. They can be useful to playoff teams. This is the time where we get picks and cheap young players if possible. Or, we could try to get an established two-way wing player to pair with the lottery pick, Kevin Love (hopefully) and another 2nd tier guy. That's what I call rebuilding. Let's hope Mitch can do some magic here. :jam2:

That would be amazing.

So would getting Deng though.

Jordan is worth a late 1st to mid first. Will we get that, not if we're not taking on salary.

Pau/Hill for Okafor/Phx 1st/Indiana 1st would be the greatest 'pipe' dream.
