Bad news for Lakers bench. Jordan Hill has herniated disk in his back. Will be re-evaluated in a week.

Hill was in pain and putting a heat pad on his back on the bench late in the game in Fresno last night.

Welcome to the Lakers Robert Sacre and Earl Clark! Or would the Lakers go after Kenyon Martin now?

How big of a setback will this be? Don't know much about herniated disk. This is pretty crappy news to hear though. :bang:

Could be something that keeps him out for a long time. Wonderful, the injuries have already started.

Anybody know about this injury? Is this something he can play through just for 10-15 mins a night or is it something seriously debilitating and needs surgery?

Depending on the severity, it can be treated with rest and anti-inflammatories. For more serious cases or cases where the injury doesn't respond to rest, you need surgery...like Dwight.

Note: Dwight said that his injury ended up needing surgery because he played hurt on it.

:bang: that sucks.
Isn't that what Dwight had? If so he's gone for the season pretty much. Hopefully it's not that bad.

Wow. :man4:

And he was playing so well during the preseason game too.

Well, it's time for Earl Clark to earn that $$$.

WOW. I'm shocked, i expected to see some amazing games by Jordan. I absolutely love this guy since that OKC game when he crashed the board like crazy and give us a big energy in that win. This sucks!

Wow, terrible news honestly. Even if it's not a bad injury it's the back, it could lead to an injury, it could keep him out a lot. Just bad news man that sucks, looks like more time for Pau and Dwight, which is not good IMO.

Please go get Kenyon Martin, this is awful, Hill was going to be a big part of the bench this year. :bang:

Well, thankfully Sacre doesn't look too bad. Jordan looked great last night though. This sucks.

I'm on the fence about Kenyon. He has experience, tough as nails, great defender at multiple positions but hes a little trigger happy, can cause some problems in the locker room, doesn't take jokes well . Heck look at the Clippers they have no half decent Centers on the team and they let him go, that says something.

the l5 and s1.. hmm.. i think this is the same type my cousin who played ball in school happen to. He wasnt even a NBA player but he still had to get surgery. So in jordans case, they will obviously take no risk and he will for sure get surgery. But i really feel he can be back by playoff time, but ofcourse chemistry and getting your nba stamina back is not easy.

I hate to think this, but i think realistically, he will be out for the year. Kenyon Martin should be picked up asap! HUGE blow for the lakers. Damn.

The advantage LA might have - outside of the chance at a ring - Martin's kids live in Los Angeles. Of course the Lakers don't have the $ to wow Martin - but they can offer slightly more than the minimum with $1.59 million of their MLE left. Hill's back needs to be clearly a long-term problem - but Martin has experience in the Princeton offense

We need a real backup C if we want to keep guys fresh for the playoffs. Whether or not we can bring one in I have no idea, maybe we roll with the rookie Sacre. Either way this freakin sucks.

Martin's a good fit not only with the Princeton offense but he's got Nash to spoon feed him the ball... something Martin has thrived on his whole career

Couple of things. If Hill is out for the year we can use the Disabled player exception for Jordan ( $1.75mil, worth more than the rest of the mini MLE remaining which is $1.5mil ). if Kenyon or whoever big is not happy we do have the ability to use a $1.75 mil exception. OKC used it last year after Maynor was out and it says we gotta use it within 45 days

Nice find Rock. I'd rather have Hill come back mid-season and the herniation not be season ending, but this would be the next best thing.
