Magic said the very same thing in today's presentation. He even said that alot of the times the media got it wrong and gave him the MVP, but it should have been Kareem's. Instead Kareem was just so selfless of a teammate that he never complained or brought attention to it.

My only regret is that I only could witness the tail end of the Showtime dynasty. But this organization is so lucky to have some of the very best to ever lace em up.

I was about 14 rows off the floor at the free throw line for almost all of that time period.... My Dad had a great job at the time in the LA area and we had season tickets.....

Kareem's legacy is almost a given for most people without actually looking at the specifics. I've posted a few of the accomplishments in some of the relevant threads but if you ever look at it all it's pretty amazing.

I still think Magic's 42 point performance against the Sixers overshadowed one of the single best playoff performances of all time that happened in the previous game. On a severely sprained ankle Kareem led the Lakers back to win the crucial game 5 in LA. I can't think of a single performance in the finals that comes close except what Magic did in the next game..... and I still think Kareem's was more impressive in many ways.... Most Laker fans just know about Magic's game 6 and hardly any know of Kareem's game 5.... 14 points, 5 rebounds and 2 blocks in part of the 4th quarter after getting taped up.... including the dagger slam dunk and one....

That hook shot, maybe the most un-defendable shot in the history of basketball.

i'm more than sure Rileys knows that he wouldn't be the basketball man he is today without the Lakers and Adolf Rupp. I understand that he probably felt like he needed to build his own legacy and left, but I wish that he would have been a laker for life.

Kareem's entire finals performance is overlooked because of Magic. He averaged 33.4 points, 13.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 4.6 blocks in that series. That statline is ridiculous.

Follow the links for the entire game. Here's the 4th quarter:
