What time is the ceremony? I'm going to the game, but can't find info on what time the unveiling is...

Ceremony starts 4.30pm, unveiling of statue after speeches is at 5.15pm

Shaq won't get one.

Players with statues not only bring a championship, but they spend a really really long time with the Lakers. Shaq was here 7-8 years, but left on a terrible note. Kareem retired as a Laker and spent 14 years with the Lakers. Magic retired as a Laker and spent 11 years as a Laker. I don't need to explain chick and West.

Shaq spent the majority of his career as a non-Laker, and left on a bitter note.


Kobe will get one, but Shaq won't. Statues are different from retired jerseys. Retired jerseys just require being a hall of famer, and spending time with the Lakers.

Didn't understand the move to Staples then, don't understand it now. Why would you want your players to have to look at all those Lakers banners every time you play a home game and cause them to have the biggest inferiority complex in all of professional sports. Anaheim has a perfectly good stadium, a big enough market that would embrace the team as their own, and basically not have to constantly live in the Lakers' shadow. Oh yeah, almost forgot, not going to have any Clippers statues for the foreseeable future.

Donald Sterling. He was always perfectly happy with the Clippers sucking. He was still making profits and I believe being a tenant in the Staples Center is/was more profitable for him than having his own stadium.

But please let's not turn this into a Clipper thread. Good to see the Cap is finally getting his statue.

Hey hey hey, eeeeeasy. The Clippers being good is going to be a huge benefit. When they meet in the playoffs, they will be playing all games at home. This is a good thing.
