I doubt Shaq is getting a statue... most he gets is his jersey retired.
In the real world, the day Steph awoke at 9 a.m. to begin his Ustream show, Kobe Bryant probably awoke at the same time, even if it was 6 a.m. in California, and lifted weights.

Why do you doubt that? Shaq is without question one of the Lakers best all time players. He won three championships here as the clear cut best player. He's the biggest reason (literally) that we were a dynasty earlier in the 2000's. It'll be a travesty if he doesn't get a statue.

I don't agree with that at all. He was one of the best Lakers yes, but he played here only half of his career, I don't think Lakers when I think Shaq, I think many teams, multiple franchises. I think Magic, Kareem, Kobe, West, I think Lakers only or at least mainly, not Shaq. Jersey retired, yes, statue, don't see LA fans flocking to that, no thanks.

Agree. He'll get his jersey in the rafters, but that's it. And Shaq was not the clear cut best player. He got his MVPs in the Finals because the East had no one to go against him. But Kobe was the MVP of the WCF each year (unofficial of course, as I named him the MVP :man12: ).

Glad to hear it. Not sure about Shaq getting a statue. He left with a bitter taste in everyone's mouth. On the one hand, the Staples Center would not exist without Shaq. It's quite literally the house that Shaq built because he was the All Star attraction that ticket holders would pay the bills to see. He wanted to move from the Forum to new digs for his run, and he got it. But the verbal digs at Jerry Buss didn't sit well (before and after the trade). I think we'll have to see. Kobe should get one for sure, however.

I vaguely remember this shooting guard we had, that did pretty well, I don't know though it's up for debate. He wore number 8, forget his name though....

Shaq played for the Magic, Lakers, Heat, Suns, Celtics, Cavs....haha. That's not statue quality. He had a nice run but he was a great player that was on the Lakers...he wasn't a Laker. Huge difference.

So besides Shaq...

Congrats to Cap. Well deserved. He should have had one certainly before De La Hoya and Gretsky (as far as LA goes). Those two certainly deserved statues, but c'mon. This is Cap we're talkin' here.

I hope he and Dwight are there for the ceremony. Then as Dwight looks at the statue, Kareem walks up to him. Kareem pats him on the shoulder and they head to the practice facility for a lesson.
