I mean, Kwame was a #1 overall pick, right?

While there's no guarantee of higher pick, better success, it's a pretty reliable indicator of performance.

BTW, a huge confound could be Sunk Cost Fallacy, but here's some data (a few years old):

^^ Nice, hope we get the 3rd pick. :man10:
In the real world, the day Steph awoke at 9 a.m. to begin his Ustream show, Kobe Bryant probably awoke at the same time, even if it was 6 a.m. in California, and lifted weights.

A little bit more on LA's drafting history of late...

2013
Ryan Kelly (48th): 21st with 0.1 WS

2012
Robert Sacre (60th): 32nd with 0.4 WS

2011
Darius Morris (41st): 40th with 0.2 WS
Andrew Goudelock (46th): 41st with 0.1 WS
Chudkwudiebere Maduabum (56th): 50th with DNP
Ater Majok (58th): 52nd with DNP

2010
Devin Ebanks (43rd): 32nd with 0.5 WS
Derrick Caracter (58th): 35th with 0.3 WS

Those bold ones are all well above the draft position.

How did they not classify Oden as a bust?

And the measure they use to determine quality: Rating = points/game + rebounds/game + assists/game is a really flawed metric.

Maybe Oden isn't a bust because he's a double double and still (possibly) playing. Honestly, I don't think Kwame's a bust either, but what do I know?

I agree that pts+ast+reb is a flawed metric, but I don't think there's any metric or eye test that isn't only part of the story. So it is what it is.

Can't hurt, but i'm not expecting much. his jumper looks broke, and his athleticism/speed looks very weak at the NBA level.

I'm rooting for the kid though. Lets see what you got Kendall!

This is why I am against tanking... we now got alot of lottery picks via FA with some (like Wes) highly regarded coming in.. The only sure thing I see is Jabari atm... The percentage of getting him is low even if we tank because other teams just program themselves to lose more than us..

Exactly.

We're Batman to a few Banes. We made losing our home this season, but some teams were born to be there. Let's go nerds!

I know it was a small sample size but he was just awful. Hopefully most of it was due to limited practice time, not a whole lot of minutes, or because he was nervous

No where to go but up for this kid. Tough first game for sure. What he's suppose to be strong at he looked the worst at.

Kwame's a bust in the terms of being a #1 pick, no matter how you slice it....yes he's a servicable space eater and has managed to swindle several teams into paying him over the years though.

Bar none probably the worst looking shot I have ever seen on a basketball court (at least from a pro)...Mitch stop signing guys because they went to NC. Seems to not have a handle, a shot or athleticism. Someone actually made him a lottery pick...ugh....that person should have been fired (and I think he was). I would rather have Goudlock back or even Morris.

Well I said no where but up for the kid after the first game….. I stand corrected. He doesn't belong at this level.

^^^ OK gun to your head you have to pick Morris or Marshall 1st for your NBA squad?

Just pull the trigger now?? That shouldn't be an option…. no telling with all your "mean" posts on Open Court where you wind up :man12: :man10:

So uh, can this guy be cut now? Farmar will play Christmas Day of his ultrasound is clear according to a tweet I read today, and I'd rather have Henry or Meeks run point if not honestly.

Given that we RANSOMED the FRANCHISE for this guy, giving away billions and picks, handicapping us going forward for the next decade or three, he'd damn well better produced ASAP.

After what I have seen Morris by a landslide. Better defender, shooter and athlete. Marshall can't shoot, can't defend and is unathletic to the point he isn't getting better. Morris' real issue is over dribbling and over penetrating. He would already still be better at bringing the ball up the court than any current healthy Laker. He would also do a decent job defending. Last year Mike played him at SG & SF. He had him guarding Melo, which was the dumbest matchup I have seen. A PG guarding a SF/PF player. Good one Mike.

Thank you. Roos chose the bullet rather than give Morris another shot with this NBA team. Will miss him. Liked him!! :man6: :man10:
