Don't know much about him, but he's two years removed from being a lottery pick. Hopefully another one of Mitch's reclamation projects works out.

On December 3, 2013, Marshall was acquired by the Delaware 87ers of the NBA D-League. In his debut with Delaware, Marshall recorded 31 points, 10 assists, 9 rebounds, and 2 steals in a 126-139 loss to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.

Im glad LA went out and got someone with some experience.... This is going to be hard. Really think Nick and X need to step up big time.
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

maybe he'll gel with our crew of misfits. i just want to have fun watching games again. all these injuries and lineup changes have really stalled our chemistry.

This dude has improved his shot significantly IMO. He'll do well in MDA's system. Nice length, combo guard - but more of a passing point - handles the ball extremely well... he is X Henry's age. He's played with Wes BTW, they have some nice chemistry already.
Someone we can develop if he shows some promise. And for some crazy reason, I think this might be another one of Mitch's "gems", so to speak. He was the 13th pick. Very fun player to watch.

So far we have found

X: 12th,
Young: 16th,
Wes: 4th,
Hill: 8th,
KendallL 13th.

Maybe we've lost most of our future picks, but we got all the recent promising first rounders, which is awesome.

Kendall's rookie video:

He's way too good for the D-League. He's a legit young NBA player.

MDA will inflate this dude's NBA stats to 10/6 very soon. Just watch once he gets minutes and shares the floor with Wes, X and Young.

This is why he's too good for the D-League. I mean, he's the 20/10 guy there:

Doesn't always translate to the NBA game, of course, but he is tall for a PG (he's about Wade's height) and his passing fundamentals are amazing. He was always a great passer with nice court vision. Nash should mentor this guy once he stops partying and comes back to work. :man1:

BTW, he had 11/5/5 against us last year as a rookie. Tell me that's not decent.

Steve Blake with less shooting and slightly more passing skills. Master of the bounce pass. Damn.

The alternative was Darius Morris if anyone wanted to know that tidbit of info.

Uh... this dude is much better then Morris. So yeah, sorry Darius.

Morris plays better D though, but in this system that's probably almost irrelevant. Passing is not.

That's pretty close actually. He's not as tough as Blake, but he will slash to the basket more. Otherwise, yes: less shooting (although he's working on it) and more bounce passing. The kid is a born passer. Let's see if he can prove he's an NBA player now. Just like X.

Why did I just know that name would be in this thread?..... :bang: NOT Funny on a day like today....

This season was, at best, a shot at making the playoffs only to get smashed by one of the powers of the West..... now it's an audition for some fill in help next year if/when we re-tool.

Don't know much about this kid but i do know a lot about Morris so this is a step in the right direction...... if for no other reason that Morris would be a step backwards for sure.

More stats than you care about...
EFFICIENCY RATINGS
Scoring Efficiency: 4.1 (5.5 was average)
Passing Efficiency: 4.0 (3.7 was average)
Hustle Efficiency: 1.9 (2.3 was average)
Offensive Efficiency: 64.4 (77.2 was average)

Comparable Lakers from last season:
Scoring: Duhon was 3.8; Morris was 4.7
Passing: Nash was 4.0, to lead the team
Hustle: Nash was 1.8
Overall: Blake was 63.6 (Morris 58, Duhon 55.2)

SYNERGY NUMBERS
358 Possessions Consumed
158 FGA (44% of possessions)
143 Assist (40% of possessions)
57 TO (16% of possessions)
449 points produced
1.25 points per possession

DEFENSIVE NUMBERS
Counterpart Scoring: 5.7
Counterpart Passing: 3.8
Counterpart Hustle: 2.0
DEFENSIVE EFFICIENCY: 79.7

On/Off Numbers
-13.6 on
-5.8 off
-7.8 +/-

Thoughts: There's a good deal to be hopeful for - lottery pick, 22 or 23 years old, ABSOLUTELY a pass-first guy, and he's very familiar with this system. I think he'll fit in well if they give him some burn.

Keep in mind that this isn't a 10 day contract. We can't do that until January. We're basically signing a guy straight out of the D-League. Hopefully he delivers.

LOL... So you are upset that the Lakers have put together a hungry group of guys in an attempt to not overspend and blow our future?

Emplay reporting it's not even a guaranteed contract.

I don't see how this could be a bad signing. He's young, was a 13th pick a year ago, hands out assists, and won't make much money. How could that be a bad thing?

I like the signing. I'm in favor of lotto reclamation projects in general, especially when the players aren't noted headcases.

I hope the lakers signed him to a two-year deal with a team option on the second and a non-guaranteed first year. that way, if he does pan out, they can keep him at a number that's basically equivalent to a cap hold for two years.
