its kinda sad that he can score 61pts and its pretty shocking but nothing like if some decent guy scored it.

His standards for the media and fans are very high.

Way to go though kobe, way to pass Jordan!

It's funny how Breen and Frazier made a big deal about him catching MJ, but had little to say about him passing Bernard King for most ever.

Those two are pretty easy to tolerate for enemy announcers though.

Kobe's 20 made free throws without a miss is also a record for any player against the Knicks.

For the record: Wilt had 32 60 pt games.

Edict from Stern: All future Kobe Bryant records must be referenced to Wilt Chamberlain records.

lol for the record, he also played against centers who were 6'6" and complete 1v1 defense.

Kobe will retire, as the GOAT.

Dammit! First I missed the 81pt game & tonight I miss this.

Oh well, congrats to Kobe. He'll need to do that often until Bynum comes back.

November 1996. Kobe's MSG debut. Scored 1 point in 3 minutes. Who'd have known that 18 year old would be this good?

Great night to watch Laker basketball.

Let me just get this out. The Laker nation needed this, and he knew it. He knew that without Andrew there would be doubters, there would be more naysayers, there would be so many people ready to give up. He went out and set a new record in one of the oldest, most historic locations in all of basketball. He shot 61% and 50% from the three point line, so not only did he break records, but he did it efficiently.

Kobe has once again proven that he's the best in basketball right now, and the Lakers are here. They're on top. And they're still playing for a ring.

And also according to KCal, just to put things in perspective, MJ had 31 fifty point games. (at least I think that's what I was reading).

Another thing I loved about tonight's win, you can add this win to the column of Kobe shooting more than 21 shots or whatever that crap is. Yeah, the more shots he takes the more likely we are to lose, riiiiight, no other factors come into play with his shot count at all. Image

Here is a thought that Walt and Breen brought up........... As great as Kobe was tonight he still had 20 more points against the Raptors. That thought gave me a chill just thinking about how great a game that was.
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

I thought about the 81 points as well, he had more points at halftime in this game than he did in the 81 point game. By the time he was attacking to get to the line just to get close to 60 I was thinking man, this is a lot of points, and he got 81 freaking points before.

With tonight performance from the charity stripe, Kobe ties the 2nd place record for most FTs made in an NBA game without a miss (20). Dominique Wilkins has the record at 23. Amare and Rip also have gone 20-20 before.
