Posting Kobe in the paint results in points most of the time and he has to expend the least amount of energy to get them.

On top of that he's our best post player with his back to the basket.

This is why we need a stretch or face up PF IMO

I've wondered this at times. We've obviously seen Dwight post up, Metta, & even Pau. I have seen Kobe do it, too; just not enough for my taste, and I believe he'd do so with much better efficiency then any of the players I listed that like to play in the paint. However, you answered your own question, when you said too many people in the paint.

We don't have enough spacing with our starting unit. The only pure shooter we have is Steve who can re relied upon almost every game to be a threat from distance. Metta goes hot & cold. Pau isn't your ideal floor space & Dwight likes to operate in the paint. There is no floor balance.

Although, Metta has been good this season, I still think we need more of a pure shooter at the 3&4 positions. That would create more space inside the paint for Kobe to work in the post. Until that happens, he's going to be relegated to playing on the perimeter, IMO...

Terrible game for Kobe, but how many times have we said that this season? 4? 5? Am I giving him a pass? Yeah, because he's been great most of the season and when 'Antoni is asking him to play defense on the opposing team's best player, eventually this stuff is going to happen, he's too old and he will be too tired and miss shots. Terrible game yes, but there are plenty of players to complain about, I'm not going to single out Kobe because it won't be an ongoing thing, he always turns it around quick whereas some guys keep on sucking. Again, I have no issue with venting about a bad game, but anything beyond that I don't get. It's like complaining about a bad game by Michael Jordan, or today complaining about LeBron or Durant, what's the point? You know they will bounce back, you know they are your franchise player, you know they have done it time after time and will keep being that great player.

awful game...it was just awful...he tried on both end...and he failed...
but dont blame him...maybe its couse he needs to cover pg with 34 years on his back...

I know they've had 3 days off; however, I believe Kobe is fatigued. He starts shooting like this when he's on tired legs. It gets excerbated when he's guarding opposing teams PG's on the defensive end. He'll be burned out by the end of the regular season, IMO...

ummmm why dont you stop shooting if its not falling. if you have 7 seconds after inbounding the ball dont shoot a contested double teamed fadeaway 3 with 6 seconds still on the clock. play smarter...

if defense is tiring you out then adjust your offensive game...shoot less, use nash and the bigs more, facilitate. dont worry you'll still get your precious points.

i will say that it sucks the refs dont call the fouls for him that they would for kd or lbj. kd went to the line 21 times...and more than half the fouls were nothing. i really think dantoni needs to play meeks more as he can give kobe some more rest than morris. morris does nothing....meeks can play similar d and shoot. duhon as well...he doesn't even run the offense now he just brings the ball up court and gives it to kobe and then doesnt shoot if he has a chance to still..meeks at PG would give Nash more rest too. Kobe has got to say something bc if i can see it im sure every laker can too.

Not a good game by Kobe at all. Not a good game by anyone not named Clark for that matter.

I don't know what he's doing out there. He's a Great... so you have to deal with nights like this, but this better not be a trend.

oh thanks kobe. glad you say that after the game but dont recognize it during the game and shoot less and facilitate more. thanks for that....glad it wont carry over to tomorrow when you shoot bad again.

Kobe's job is to be a leader and take the pressure off the team. So of course he's going to blame himself when we all know that defense is the real problem.

Defense is a problem but a shooting night of 10-32 with 6 turnovers is also a very difficult setback to overcome in a basketball game. Only on these boards can you find people willing to minimize such an egregious milestone.

We scored 103 points today, so that wasn't too difficult to overcome.

Scoring isn't the problem. The problem is on the defensive end. Until we address that issue, we're going to continue to lose games.

Combo of both. We couldn't stop anything on D. Kobe ice cold and shooting in volume made it even worse.

With that said, despite the Kobeball, we'd have a better chance of winning if we'd played a lick of D.

Actually he did shoot ugly but it wasn't helped by the teams overall lack of an offense. There isn't any. I also saw multiple possessions down the stretch where Nash passed over the first, second, third options and forced it to Kobe who then shot a 3.

Let's start with a sensible offense. Next you can't play Kobe 49 minutes a game. You just can't. I get occasionally having him guard certain players but you can't do that for long stretches. Too many miles on those tires. What happens is his shot starts coming up short and now you have a problem.

Old team and D'antoni has SHORTENED the rotation and increased Kobe's minutes. Unbelievable.

I agree that defense is the main problem but i think late game scoring flurries are masking some of our offensive issues as well. We struggle for three quarters and then just say "f' everything" in the fourth and rally while the other team has taken its foot off the gas a bit. Maybe a better way to look at it is that we don't have a very consistent offense.

yeah, his shooting was terrible. and yes, he's the goat for this game. the machismo on the "blame me for the season" doesn't affect me. it's everybody's fault. he's one of them, for sure, but no one save maybe earl clark can say that they did what it took to win a basketball game today.

i will say this: if there's a leader on this team, i haven't seen him. kobe and nash are both supposed to be leaders (in their own ways). i see a team without leadership.

Kobe must be like 0/20 when it comes to getting the right call on drawing charges. No wonder he hardly ever does it.
