Kobe Bryant's secret is that he's an absolute beast off the ball, an often overlooked aspect of his game. Coming off screens he shot 46.2 percent. On handoffs he shot 50 percent. On cut plays he shot 54.2 percent.

Guys on CL have been saying that he's a monster off the ball for quite some time. Hopefully he puts it on display more than he did last season (as opposed to all of the iso-ball)....

I blame Brown for all of the iso ball Kobe did last year. 3/4ths of the time MB asked him to do it, and 1/4th of the time he dod it because the stagnant offense couldn't get anyone else going.

^^^^ yep the pb is these three "type of plays" only represented 18% of the total of the shots he took last season whereas the FGA coming from iso situations ( area where he was the least effective , only 37 FG%) represented 28% of the total of shots he launched ...

There is no excuse this doesn't change this upcoming season with Nash and D12 coming here .... both the coach staff and Kobe have to put an emphasis on better shot selection

With Nash here now I hope we see very little going forward of Kobes' look at me dribble dance in ISO. The team will be better with the ball in Nash's hands instead for those 3 seconds and Kobe moving to be hit with perfect passes in his many favorite places. Beyond awful as well when he would turn the ball over in the middle of some of those moments and still beat the hell out of Pau for his regular "playing the game" mistakes.

I would expect from Nash, on a turnover from Kobe due to a dribble dance, the exact look of disdain and "Really Kobe??" reaction as I would have expected from Kobe the first time he watched CP3 in a Lakers uniform pull one of his ridiculous flops.

Kobe asked Nash to come here and is excited about the opportunity to play off the ball more. I'm sure we'll see far less isolation and more Ray Allen/Paul Pierce play from Kobe. I don't expect to see him on a random spot on the floor having to create for himself while everyone else stands and watches.

Expect to see Nash up top, Gasol and Artest on opposite corners, Kobe taking a high screen from Howard up top, Kobe curling to the elbow while Nash goes to the weak side, Kobe's first look will be the lob to Howard and his second look will have him in his sweet spot at the elbow. Easy first play (this is basically part of the Princeton, but it would be a feasible play without it).
