And I wonder the last time someone scored 40 on 16 shots? lol A decade ago? But yeah, durants 41 was more epic. Even though it came on 24 shots, it was just amazing to watch. Step back 3's, dunks, post ups, just amazing. Russ had 11 assists though so that might've helped. I can't wait 'till we get a full team and nash gets back. Kobe will be able to score as easily as he did in the first few months with some breathing room.

Opposing opinions are fine here....as long as the member isn't trying to isolate any particular member.

We are aware of the baiting element, but with that particular post all he did was post a stat not really addressing any member in particular or even a group of members for that matter.

Who exactly was doing the scouting on kobe? And who were the managers there were talking about him shooting too much? Because I honestly doubt that men who work in the NBA at that level would be making such stupid, age old conclusions about Kobe, especially this season where he has been forced to carry the team. Kobe is the greatest offensive weapon in NBA history and you wouldn't want to utilize that? That's like asking Reggie miller to quit shooting so many 3's and instead do more drive and kick plays because his teammates are getting frustrated.

Sometimes I wish kobe would purposely try to not score and get his teammates involved so people would realize how much we blow when that happens. In fact, it was the only game of Kobe's life he was criticized for "not trying", the second half of game 7 against the suns in 2006, we came pretty close to winning that :man10:

The new Christmas' Kobe 8 System. This signature shoe draws inspiration from the "rhinoceros viper and features bright red and yellow scales that mimic a Christmas tree garland." Looks sick in my opinion. A lot better than last year's "cheetahs." Definitely going to cop this!

I know this isn't the place for the discussion, but Alex Smith is a third tier QB in the NFL (borderline starter), and his numbers are eerily similar to Kaepernick's this season. When you have a dominant D, a good running game, and an excellent offensive line, you can put up huge numbers even if you're not very good.

Smith is very accurate, rarely makes mistakes (minus the Giants game this year), but lacks 2 things Kaepernick has: foot speed and arm strength. Kaepernick will make some mistakes that Smith wouldn't, but he also makes big plays. 3 QBs have thrown 4 TDs in Gillette Stadium: Brady, Manning, Kaepernick. Kaep has a long run of 50 yards this year. He's done it twice.

I welcome any 49er talk, but we should probably do it in the 49er thread. My bad for getting it off topic. Now back to Whitten.... I mean Kobe.

I keep looking at that title. SEVEN straight 30 point games at the age of 34. Yes he's doing it on volume shooting and yes the team is only 4-3 in that span... But when you really look at the facts it's mind blowing.

A guy in his 17th season who could very well finish in the top 15 of most NBA/ABA minutes played EVER is dropping 30 point games like they're nothing. Playing 40 minute games like they're nothing. When you add in the fact that he's SECOND in playoff minutes played and (should the Lakers make it this season) could very well pass Kareem on that list as well the feat is just truly amazing.

Say what you will, but how many players in the history of the league can say that they're dropping 30 point games regularly at his age and with his milage? Kareem? Malone? Anyone else?

Won't matter. ESPN has an agenda. We all know this. I think it's a job requirement that an NBA analyst must have a latent distaste for Kobe Bryant. The only guy who doesn't is Screamin' you know who. Who's no longer a featured ESPN NBA analyst....he was too fair to Kobe.

ESPN loves the Kobe shoots too much angle.

Kobe - 17 years in the league. Shot the ball over 22 times per game....5 years. Career 19.3 FGA per game.

Jordan - 15 years in the league. Shot the ball over 22 times per game.....12 years. Career 22.9 FGA per game.

ESPN loves to point out that because Kobe shoots so much, his teammates become disengaged and won't play defense.....YET, those Bulls teams played excellent defense....WITH Jordan taking more shots than Kobe. LOL.

It's obviously an agenda folks. Just put ESPN on ignore.

A few reasons, in no particular order:

- He whines and/or cusses at the refs
- He shows them up with his hand and arm gestures
- Refs aren't in awe of Kobe like they were Jordan
- Kobe usually has the advantage and maybe, subconsciously, they're evening the playing field

I heard a quote once from one of Jordan's teammates that he once told a ref "don't you ever make that call again" and didn't get a tech and they didn't make that call on him ever again. :man10:

Definitely great stats to point to....but the rules have changed a little bit. MJ could go iso all day and it would be justified since you have the best player against their best defender one on one on the strong side of the court.

Of course, in Kobe's case, he has to play against zone and rules that were more flexible of the opposition throwing double teams at him.

The only thing Jordan had against him was hand-checking....but really, that slightly impeded progress to the rim and had nothing to do with jumpshooting.

There is obvious bias on ESPN's part, which is why I think the MVP award is such a joke these days. However, Jordan putting up more shot attempts than Kobe is justified since he faced man defense his entire career. If Kobe faced that, then he would be equally justified in playing iso ball. Normally, if you have your best player going against single man coverage in today's game, you try to isolate that strong side of the offense so that Kobe could take advantage of it. However, it would be "selfish" to draw a double team and still fork up a shot, when you can rotate the ball to a wide open teammate.
