Read this article when you have time (its long)... I found it.. interesting ... it explained how a higher ( than the others players in the league) % of Kobe missed shots are converted in points via offensive rebounds

very interesting. I do think that there are times where kobe sees a big in great rebounding position in the paint, but doesn't have a path to pass to him, so he shoots it instead knowing its an automatic rebound or putback if it misses. It may not happen often, but it does happen.

Imagine if it all started over again today and someone said to you, that with your team's 13th pick in the NBA draft, you could pick up a player who will bring you 5 championships (at least), 7 finals appearances, 17 years of exciting plays and thrills, and become one of the only 5 players to score more than 30k points in his career?

You'd think the guy was talking fantasy-land.

Certainly by the numbers Lebron is well within the bounds of reason to not only reach 30k faster than Kobe but even slip into the #2 or #1 spot when all is said and done. Being "The guy" straight out of high school, playing a ton of minutes(he's probably played more total minutes in his first 8 years than just about anyone else in the league) he's never played a full 82-game season, but he's never missed significant time due to injury and he's never found his scoring hampered much by persistent small injuries, not to mention only having to deal with one relatively short lockout. But, this is his 9th season, and without trying to cast an omen on the dude, I truly hope he doesn't have to suffer through a major injury, it's just... by the numbers and against history, his odds aren't great. He's also lost a step already in some respects. He's easily playing some of the best overall basketball of his life right now, he's filled out his weaknesses and elevated his game, but he doesn't jump as high as he used to, he's not as fast as he was...etc. Not that this will impede his efforts to be a scoring dynamo much, but it does raise questions about whether he actually can make it to 17 years of productivity without a serious drop off.

We'll just have to wait and see.

Nothing he can do will diminish the awe-inspiring legacy Kobe has laid down, that's for sure.
