I would prefer to have Kobe sit and collect 30M for putting in "overtime". Dude deserves it. Jeanie also alluded to it.

If we have a legitimate title shot, then lace em up and hit the floor...till then, just prepare for such an opportunity and if it doesn't come this next year, then so be it. Out of all the players to undermine, this isn't one of them...and its better to be a "fan" than a player for this coach anyways....at the very least, its more physically responsible.

^ LOL I think Kobe only mentioned players he faced in the playoffs that scored a lot of points against him....with the exception being Arenas, only bc he once scored like 63 points against the lakers.

Those tweets were killing me with their misspellings. "No his not." Makes me want to die.

In other news: Kobe on Shaq: "He was an absolute force. He was doing some super natural stuff we haven't seen in the history of the NBA." Yes, he was. Shaq and Kobe never let me feel like a game was out of reach.

I liked this one:

"Shaq and Kobe's first meeting was at Jerry's Deli in Beverly Hills and Kobe thought Shaq was cool because he had a big cell phone."
"It's not realistic to get younger and better when you only have the veteran's minimum to offer free agents." :mhihi:

Even game 7 Portland at its darkest point? Better fan than me...... :man10:

Now if that was the current Dodgers team I could see it :man1: :jam2:

Kobe on the young players he like: Westbrook, Harden, Kyrie Irving and ... Nick Young: "They all have that gene."

Nick Young :jam2: I hope Kobe mentors him and really helps him evolve into the player we all know he can be. He has so much talent and i think Kobe can get him to be a great player for us. Hopefully a good relationship between them will emerge over the season.

“I was working out and he called me and said ‘It’s a done deal I’m coming.’ There were mixed emotions because it hurt that we were giving up teammates I was close with. And like 30 minutes later he calls me back and says ‘Man you won’t believe what happened!! They stopped the trade. This is some bull…”

still bothers me how that went down. so close to CP3/Kobe backcourt. Win or Loss it would have been amazing basketball to watch the best in the league at their positions playing together.

I know we all hate Dwight now, but the Lakers had a vision that I think would have taken complete pressure off his giant pansy-*** shoulders.

Paul/Bryant/Howard would have been a Championship level team. With two guys entering their primes and one there to tell them how it's done? It would have been a great set up. And I think it would have been good enough to keep Howard from collapsing under the pressure like a folding chair.

Then as Kobe retires, you've got the two best at their positions with room for one more just in time for Durant or Love? I mean damn. They had the plan all set out.

F*** Stern.

Young I see more of the Monta Ellis, JR Smith mold, without so much attitude though.

The problem with those guys are, they didn't have a veteran presence to help shape their game. To guide them to take their game to the next level.

These guys have all of the necessary skills and POTENTIAL to become much better, but they don't have that opportunity.

Now Young has that chance. He has the skills, the build, and the talent to do so. Will he take it in stride? I really hope so.

Here's another excerpt from the event.

It's a pretty amazing story that the Mamba's told before, perhaps most notably to Vecsey, who also related the back-and-forth between Bryant and Hall of Famer Dave Cowens, the head coach of the Hornets at the time:
At some point soon after the Hornets selected Bryant with the No. 13 pick, the two had a private phone conversation that went something like this.
Cowens: “You know what the deal is, right?"
Kobe: “Yes, I do.”
Cowens: “Well, that’s good, because we don’t need you anyway.”
Kobe is as stupefied and infuriated now as he was then.
“Can you believe someone would say something like that to a 17-year-old!” he says, his face one-third smile, one-third scowl and one-third sinister. “That really threw me. It really hurt. Especially since it came from him. I knew about Dave Cowens. I knew what a great player he was. I followed his career. I looked up to him because he played so hard and showed so much passion. That spit just blew me away!”

It's crazy, but he went 13th after all. Plenty of other people disrespected him.

The BSPN standing predictions put the Lakers at 12th. Some Asian dude in Houston saying Howard and Harden will be Shaq + Kobe 2.0 :man3: :man10:
As good as anybody, much much better than most.
