Wish I had seen the game. Amazing line from Kobe tonight, it really defies belief that he is still able to do this on any given night.

Watch the replay. It's definitely worth it.

I know this was a really different sort of game, but I think Kobe posted 25 points and 11 dimes in the second half. That's pretty incredible.

Forget 50, he should be able to throw down another 81 on the Raptors at this rate.

it was an incredible game. but there was always something special about reading that final boxscore and seeing 50 or 60

his 14/21 fgs on 42 pts is the best i think in his career other than his 81.

he had like 40 on 17 shots in MSG in 06 but because he had like 20+ fts

Didn't he have 5 turnovers in the 1st quarter alone?

He finished with 42/12/7 and 6 turnovers on 77 TS% :man4:

kobe thought it. i just remember that presser after they lost to okc last year in the playoffs.

“I’m not fading into the shadows, if that’s what you’re asking. I’m not going anywhere…We’re not going anywhere. It’s not one of those things where the Bulls beat the Pistons and the Pistons disappeared forever. I’m not going for that (stuff).”

Yet as I watched him Monday, I could not help think how little it mattered and how right he is. He is not fading into the shadows. He does not know how to go out that way.[.]

Agreed. Although, Kobe's second half SEEMED infinitely more impressive than his first half though I'm sure the result had much to do with that.

I didn't find myself wow'd in the first half, but his second half was stunning.

I'll say it again....

I wouldn't choose anyone over Kobe Bryant (in current form) currently in the NBA.

ANYONE.

Kevin Ding Quote:

As Kobe took his feet out of ice-water bucket and started toward postgame shower, he said: "Can you imagine ...

what it would've been like in Los Angeles if we'd lost this game?"

For his part, Kobe said there was no moment where his feeling changed from trying to win and believing they were going to win. He said he believed the whole time.

The Lakers were down 18 a minute into the fourth quarter, still down 15 with 6:23 to play.

Here's Kobe's full quote about how the Lakers came together tonight -- which better prepares them for the playoffs:

"Games like this really strengthen the bond between us players. And that’s really what the playoffs are about: When you have adversity, it’s about who’s going to stick together and who’s not going to break. Even though we played a team that has not the best record in the world, I think this type of win really strengthens our bond."

KEVIN DING ‏@KevinDing
Dwight actually counseled Kobe to attack Lopez in 4Q, telling Kobe he was going to hold Kobe's man via screen. Kobe: "He saw something."

It seems that nobody talks about it. But I said it before, Dwight' screens are very good and that's why Kobe's able to dunk more often this season. Kobe has better legs, but Dwight work in the paint helps freeing the way for Kobe.

is it a sign that this thread has grown only 1 page after Kobe's amazing game? If the Lakers had lost this would of grown 10 pages with people blaiming Kobe.

In short........ Give Kobe some love Lakers fans. :jam2:
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

Those screens were huge, Kobe and Dwight have to work together like this if we want to go anywhere that matters.

I believe Kobe was the first nba player period to score 40 and have 10 assists since Lebron in 2009/2010. :man4:
