Not a bad game from Kobe, but it was clear he was trying to get Howard involved. It's nice to see that even as a 2nd option he can have nearly a triple double.

Kobe realized it was more important for the team going forward for Dwight to have a big game tonight than it was for him to have a 35+ point game. He can save that for ATL tomorrow.

He had a couple of nice setups for Dwight and after those two 3s he drilled late, I thought it was about to be Kobe time. Aside from that, nothing really stuck out tonight from his performance one way or another.

Props to kobe for letting howard DOMINATE his old team, and move forward mentally. Clearly kobe realized how big this was for howard.

Kobe didn't shoot great but really took the pressure off Dwight early and then just rolled through the day. Nice win and nice play by the team.
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

He didn't shoot the ball well the past two games but that's okay because he still got a good amount of assists and rebounds and let Dwight be the show in Orlando. That helps build chemistry.

^^ Agreed with all of you - Kobe did the perfect thing tonight, he supported his guy and let him work through it. He had Dwight's back all the way and set the table for him, while he just controlled the pace. Nice stuff. Very strong win tonight. Loving the chemistry that they are developing on the court.

Afflalo is Kobe worst nightmare ... I doubt Kobe has worse shooting numbers against any other opponent ...

He contributed in others areas of the game so that's all good ...

Kobe is unbelievable, specifically at the age of 34 playing for 17 years...

It isn't just about him playing at a high level at 34. Most superstar players slow down by that age, but with Kobe, he's played so many extended seasons with the playoffs and finals, USA games, early practices and playing year round, that it's amazing he's still capable of doing what he does on a regular basis.

Ultimately, if you were to look at all the players who at one point were compared to him, or touted as "better", he's surpassed them all or hung around up to this point. Even the great Michael Jordan had a season and a half off in the 90's and played a few hundred less games than Kobe, but kept it up even at 34 to 35 years ago. Kobe is showing that he isn't just emulating greatness, he's creating his own chapters in his own book.

If there was a measuring stick of what any player should strive for in relation to longevity, it's Kobe. He's the measuring stick, the guy who the young players and today's generation should look up to and emulate in terms of work ethic and preparation. If there was any doubt that this man wasn't your typical superstar, this year has proven it. He's a megastar, a player who deserves the right to stand in his own shadow and not have to look up at anyone else. He's been able to separate that gap between himself and past greats by writing history beyond what anyone likely ever expected.

We've always known that he's special, a once in a lifetime player who likely will never be replaced in Lakers lure. Sure, we'll have other stars who play for this franchise, but like Magic, West, and Kareem, there will never be another Kobe.

For that, I am grateful that he's still donning the purple and gold and entertaining the fans with his will to win so we can celebrate along side with him and the rest of the team come June. It may not be a reality every season, but at least we can rest assured knowing that he's going to do whatever it takes to get us there. We don't have to worry about his loyalty or his declining talent, because when the time comes where he can no longer physically or mentally play at this level, he will likely hang them up.

To me, he's earned that right. He's earned the right to go out a superstar still playing at the peak of his career. Kobe Bryant is a player whose name is synonymous with winning, and because we've had him here for so many years, we sometimes take for granted what he's brought to this franchise in the past 17 years. He's an artist in his own right. His art may not be beautiful or elegant to some people, but to those who understand the canvas in which he lay, it's a masterpiece in it's finest form.

Lakers started to play well with Kobe playing as a playmaker to set up his teammates. Then he switch to more scoring mode to allow Nash getting into more playmaking role. Now he switches into playmaking again to set up Dwight. By the way, Jamison, Meeks and Blake become consistent contributors. Our offense are quite good now while our defense is also improving.

This is the type of game that pisses me off about Kobe. He simply does not give his teammates a chance to do anything. It's literally one on five at times. Disgusting to see such selfish basketball.

Can anyone objectively defend Kobe's play tonight? It doesn't matter if Kobe hit some amazing 3s late a few games back. What matters is to win the right way, to play the right way. I knew this team was in trouble as long as Kobe tried to carry the burden cause as soon as he cools of, this team has no rhythm. You ask why teammates stand and watch Kobe? Well, there u go. There were some possessions where he dribbled down court and made up his mind that he was going to shoot no matter what. Sickening.

Dahntay Jones has always had a stick up his *** about Kobe. Every time they play this scrub tries to prove something and plays dirty. Worthless player and scum bag of a human being.
