He was being Phil-esque, lol@ the article actually believing Kobe is being diplomatic, he is trolling Dwight!!! Lol

Bleeping genius of him to do that. Checkmate. He just challenged Howard to step his game up to levels he will never produce. And LMAO ….. he knows Coward never wanted to be judged against those guys. But genius to mention "Olajuwons" and so forth in there as well. Yeah it's all on him. And the same night up springs a 40 page and counting anti Dwight thread for being stupid and his typical A-hole real personality on a team. From Rockets fans. 6 games into his season. :man10: PRICELESS.

WHAT DID YOU MAKE OF BRYANT MAKING TWO FREE
THROWS ON A TORN ACHILLES AND WALKING OFF
THE COURT ON HIS OWN? Wilkins: “I thought immediately then, that even though he tore his Achilles, he’s ahead of his
recovery because he walked off the floor. A lot of
people who tear those Achilles tendons, you can’t
even walk or get off the floor.” Thomas: “I didn’t want anybody to help me walk off the court. Bill Laimbeer and I used to talk
about this all the time. We don’t want anyone
carrying us off. If we’re leaving the court, we’re
walking off on our own or we’re limping off on
our own. When I saw Kobe limping off on his
own, I saw that as a great player’s lonely walk and journey off the court.” Billups: “You can stand there and shoot. If I could’ve just stood there, I would’ve been able to
play the rest of the season. If I could stand right
there, I would’ve kept it and shot it. But you just
can’t run. (laughs)” Brand: “I couldn’t even walk. That’s why I was amazed Kobe had the strength and resilience to
go over and knock down those free throws.
People don’t understand that usually you can’t
even get on your tippy toes after that happens.”

I'm happy that he's not setting a timetable to rush himself back. As stubborn as he is and how he wants to prove his doubters wrong, it's best to prolong your career as much as possible and recover fully and completely and then stick it to them.

So there's a vid where Dennis Rodman is saying F Kobe like 5 times. Can't post link since it has the F word in it.

Found that odd. Wonder what happened between them.

the LA Lakers and NBA Clippers.

Feeling bad for Kobe...

If Nash keeps playing as our starting PG, we go nowhere.

The thing I have been thinking about is just how crazy Staples is going to be on his return... It is going to be one of those Laker moments for the record books. The emotion and energy will be incredible.

Whoa….there you are…..figured we would not see you again until time to start chirping about Kobe's game play for whatever reasons. "Feeling bad for Kobe" Really? The same Kobe you wanted to have all season long hand the keys to the city and the team to Dwight Howard? Hopefully you've come to your senses. :man12:

I have seen several interviews with Kobe over the last few weeks where he is talking about the possibility of lost athleticism and relying on fundamentals more to do what he does.... for some reason this is telling me that he's having a hard time getting back what he had before the injury and that he's kind of preparing the team/fans for it.

He usually doesn't face reality publicly.... that's what makes Kobe different than every other player.

Well, he doesn't know how he'll perform yet, right? He's just preparing for the possibility of a significant decline in his athleticism, but I don't think he knows how he'll play yet.

Yup, Kobe isn't one to publicly admit that he might be a lesser version of himself, even if that is the case. So I'm not ready to believe that he has declined. Not until I see it. He'll go out fighting & believing he can be the same player until he has the truth served in his face. Whenever that will be.

Roos - possibly that's what's going on.. but, he's also said in a couple of interviews that he might be back looking better than ever. I don't think he actually believes that, but if he was trying to prepare us for a lesser version of himself, then he wouldn't even mention the possibility of looking great IMO.

I can't wait till he does come back and prove you guys wrong. All you have to do is watched the recent Connected with Kobe Bryant from 1-2 weeks ago where Kobe says that he will absolutely be back to his old self. I don't know what you guys are talking about..

I honestly think Kobe's prepared for both extremes with no idea of what the middle ground will be, and he's putting them both out there. I mean looking at Nash and Pau everyday he sees what a shell looks like

I honestly don't see the benefit in him even returning this year

In fact I see it as a detriment if anything. We aren't winning it all, and his surrounding players are just not getting it done.

You would like him maybe return 2nd half of the season to stretch/burn in his lungs in a bit. Which also allows himself to assess his body response to real game.. which then he find area which he could improve other the summer

I'd rather him Derrick rose it, use this season to get his whole body as healthy as possible

There really is no point for him to play this season. Nash has one foot in retirement, pau cant even move. Just play the young guys, give Henry 30 minutes a night and try to develop him

Move forward with a top 5 pick and cap space

There are a couple reasons for him to return this season for let's say a couple of months :

- It allows the FO to evaluate what kind of contract they are willing to offer him in the summer ... there is no way I would offer Kobe 12-15 millions a season for a couple of years without watching how he performs back from the achilles injury

- to show FAs who may consider joining the Lakers that he can still play at a good level

Couple months fine. Come back in February-march

Don't need Kobe keeping us at .500 by his will alone.

At the same time im not sure Kobe is the biggest selling point to come here just age wise. Our next free agents might not even be from 2014 so we'd be better off drafting someone who can draw free agents, and have kobe just be a part of the presentation. Not the whole thing

Maybe Kobe morphs into the real Magic Johnson ver 2.0 and does even better than LBJ at it. Magic not the most athletic nor best defender but he had the skills, the smarts at the top of the league's smart curve and the balls to deliver in prime time. Maybe that would be less physically demanding. It WILL be fun to see what he has done with his game / physical preparation. And yeah they have to bring him back at Staples. He will literally feel the adrenaline in that crowd course through him. One of the epic moments in sports history.
