What Kobe is saying here is what I've feared ever since he went down again. I'm not confident that he will ever return to full strength. His body has too much mileage.

The injuries he's had the last year are the type that need time to heal and more importantly time to get his lower body back in shape to avoid re-injury. He needs to shut it down and get healthy and try it at full strength next year.

I think most of his interviews show that he is seeing that his window is closed with the team's current makeup and the bleak outlook for the next 2 years in getting him a team that can compete. The odds he sees meaningful playoff time again are pretty slim…… unfortunately.

Having watched my favorite player (Kareem) stay one year too long I hope he knows when to end it and not leave us with watching him struggle to be "Kobe".

It was painful watching Kareem his last year since I had such strong memories of him at his peak. :man6:

I think he's done for the season. I also think if he's not where he wants to be next year he'll retire at seasons end. Last individual accolade to do is to pass MJ in points. He's done everything else at this point he needs to be conscious of his brand and go out on a high note vs all the bad media he'll get if he's lackluster/injury prone for 2 whole seasons.

Kobe,

Go out when you want to. I will be behind you 100% in whatever you decide and do the rest of your career. I don't want us fans on here to do what we've been doing to Nash this year, which is begging him to retire and forgetting a lot of the good he has done in his career.

I know Nash has only been with the Lakers for 2 years now while Kobe his whole career, but I just hope this isn't going to be a difficult last 2 1/2 years for Kobe and Lakers fans. Let's celebrate and enjoy every single minute he is still with us because it will be gone JUST LIKE THAT. And some will wish we could or would have enjoyed his final years a little better.

So, after taxes and agents and managers and lawyer retainers and accountants, Kobe cleared about 30 million last year.

Kobe Bryant's knee hasn't healed enough to where he'll have an MRI. And that's the first step before he resumes any other activity.

Kobe still has swelling and pain in the knee. That's one way to tell he's not close enough to get further testing done just yet.

It's been 2 months already and it's still swollen? Damn.

I keep fearing that something much worse than a fracture happened because its not healing very fast.

If so, then he probably needs surgery.

I think we're just taking it nice and easy. Don't be surprised if during the last month of the season or so he starts to miraculously turn it around and heal up.

We're going for a lottery pick now. No need to rush anything. Give him a ton of time and get him as healthy as can be.

I dont know man, how is it that every player this year who has been injured is missing 50 games? Either the Lakers have the worst luck in the history of sports, or these trainers and doctors are doing something to keep these guys on the shelf.

This is just a means of shutting him down for the year....as we should!

Kobe is just too finely tuned for this to be a setback.
If it is indeed a setback then, RIP Kobot

Pain and swelling still? Hopefully this is just Kobe deciding to sit out the rest of the season.

feeling for Kobe

Hope he rests up and heals completely, maybe takes the Summer to get healthy and feel like the best he can be. If this is the end, I totally blame Dantoni for running him into the ground. I will never buy off that running a 34 year old with that type of mileage over 40 minutes a game for weeks did not contribute. Probably the best season ever for a guy that age, and this could be it? :man6:
