Kobe Discussion: Happy with the FO effort (806)

I'd be really surprised if Kobe became a coach.... ever. I just don't think he has the demeanor for coaching. Players would hate him being on their a** all the time for not going hard enough in practice and I don't think he's that adept at connecting with people on a personal level. I know I don't know him, and yall might have a different perspective, but that's my take on it.

That said, Kobe does have some great qualities for being a coach if he could just learn how to manage personal relationships better. Who knows, he might just be able to do it. He does everything else basketball wise that he puts his mind to.

He would be a good analyst though. He has great understanding of the game, he is eloquent and does not mumble. :man1:

But if you gave them the right kind of wing players around them, it could work.

No slower then Marc and Randolph. On a team that won 50 games and made the playoffs in the West.

Seem to recall the MGasol/Randolph pair giving the high flying dunkathon Clips a pretty rough time in recent years and they're giving OKC a run for its money right now.
I shall be telling this with a sigh

I took the one less traveled by,

Memphis has made it work, they've also had really good defensive guards & wings though.. Conley/Allen/Prince/Lee.. If we have defenders like that & a good defensive coach we could definitely pull it off..

Kobe's a big reason MDA is even in L.A. I don't think MDA is going anywhere.

^ "Big" might be coming on a little strong. He supported the hiring at first because he thought it came with a healthy Steve Nash attached.

d'antoni has totally lost kobe and the rest of the team

the only reason he's still there is because the FO doesn't want another fired coach on the payroll and to admit that they messed up with a coaching hire yet again

Very interesting. Nike has recently backed away from the "smart" wearables products going forward, choosing to instead put their money into the software side of that, coming from the sports, performance background of their company. It's been speculated that with Apple coming out with rumored smart wearables, like watches, that Nike chose not to compete against Apple in that arena, but rather "team (up)" with them possibly. Bryant may not be a player many more years but is extremely well spoken and an attractive possible spokesperson, perhaps for this coming from established Nike relationship?

Still waiting on tigerjeterkobe who casually threw this out yesterday in the who to draft thread, to clarify and give source. " Please"

This from last month, and guys from my LA office who know several Laker's staffers (and guys from my cuse office who still talk to WEs) say that Wes and Kobe have worked out several times recenlty, almost daily.

OK thanks. I think I had seen that. Don't know about killing each other unless your contacts are saying that. Hope so.
