Kobe: "Need to assess the system"

(To media on @TWCSportsNet) Kobe said that not only do Lakers need to self-assess individually...they also need to assess the system...yup.

If thats kobe saying this system sucks and is not working thats it. If Kobe gives up on the system being ran then the entire team will give up aswell. Time for change someone who will run system inside out and focus on defense!

^^ I'm with that. Too late to do much about it though. D' Antoni's been incredibly inflexible as a coach. Can't imagine there will be any real changes there.

The best they've played out there was with no system. Just minimal coaching, but great substitutions under Bernie. He let them play - trusted the guys and they responded. No real agenda. Just win games.

Unfortunately, I don't think thats an option. Not only is Pringles stubborn, but I don't think he's smart enough to implement a system that maximizes all the talent on the team.

This is like saying the sky is blue. Anyone with any hint of common sense knew this a long time ago. Many questioned the hiring of Datoni from the get go. Jim Buss has ruined this team with his horrible coaching hires.

You got a tea, of post up players playing pick and roll because the system fits Nash who has never won anything or got the conference playing that way. Nash needs to be Kerr or Fisher, a spot up guy. Kobe, Metta, and Pau hould post up. Dwight should flash to the goal and clean up the trash ala Horace Grant and young Bynum on the title teams. Fact is Phil was a better fit as was the triangle and Princeton O for everyone but Nash, and it shows

I think dr. Buss prefers more on getting lays than pringles.

D'Antoni doesn't know any other offense than the one he runs, that is why he was a terrible hire & that is why he has never won anything, he doesn't adjust not because he doesn't want to, its because he doesn't know how.

I've never seen a Lakers team look so confused for half a season (so far). On both ends.

Hiring D'Antoni was a horrible move. His system will take you to the conference finals at best. On top of that we don't even have the personnel to run his system. On top of that we don't even look like we're running a system.

The last two games were such glaring examples of this.

It's the Knicks all over again. D'Antoni never learns from his mistakes.

Put Kobe at SF, bring in a young athletic PG, and let Nash play as co-PG / SG.

Nash is needed for his veteran leadership, not as the rudder of the offense. He too old to rudder anything.

I don't see what assessing it is going to do. Phil was probably the only coach in the league capable of using 2 7 footers at the same time & playing through them. Nothing D'antoni knows how to do is going to make our personnel work. He's not going to start playing inside out & make Nash a spot up shooter.

it's extremely painful for everything i've been saying about dantoni for the last decade to be proven true with my team as the case study.

that said, mike brown's version looked just as bad. so, if you're management, it can't just be about the coach. everything should be on the table right now.

Exactly. What plays are we running? What is our defensive strategy? We are completely lost out there.

The only time our offense looks good is when we run horns. When we run pick and roll, we forget to pick and then we don't roll.

Our defense just sucks. No communication and it seems it's one guy trying to lock their man down as opposed to playing team defense. D12/Clark run around and cover for everybody else who gets lost on screens and backdoor cuts. Perimeter defense is crap as well.

We need to start running Kobe System.

First... I don't like MDA's system and I don't think he's a championship coach.... I didn't like Brown's system and didn't think he was that good either.

With that said.... I think we're a poorly matched team of individuals and there isn't a system that can fix our issues.

We have 6 players (Kobe, Howard, Pau, Nash, MWP and Jamison) that have all been the primary player on a team in the past. They have all had "systems" built around their talents with the exception of MWP and Jamison. Getting them to share and move without the ball isn't something that comes naturally or even innately to them.

It's so obvious to anyone who really understands the game, you can't just throw together a bunch of big names and expect success. If Kobe has another chance at a championship here in LA this team needs to be dismantled and re-built from just about the ground up..... and quickly. I don't think what we're seeing is fixable with a new system.
