Deal might dwarf Nike's $90M pact with LeBron

This is one situation where Kobe Bryant won't mind being compared with Michael Jordan.

The Lakers star is set to end his seven-year association with adidas and sign with rival Nike in a deal that is believed to be in line with Jordan's ownership stake that includes his own line of shoes and apparel.

Financial terms of the deal are not available at this time.

Bryant has been in Beaverton, Oregon, for the last 48 hours working on the deal, which is expected to be announced shortly. Nike has been working to craft the deal in such a way that it supercedes, at least in appearance, the $90 million contract signed by LeBron James last month.

Maybe it will resemble the Kobe 3s that weren't released, or it might be even more inventive and interesting...can't wait to see. I am glad to see that the eggheads @ Nike are finally coming to their senses a little...Maybe Kobe gave them some smelling salts and played them some highlights of his rim rattlers...

This is great! At least this makes more sense to me than Nike's trust and hope in a professionally unproven high schooler.

I agree, Kobe deserves this way more than LeBron. I'm glad to see him get a shoe contract once again.

It probably wouldn't even have him in those commercials, since it said he was going to join jumpman. He would be in his own commercial or in one with other players that are endorsed by jumpman. I hope they will have a commercial with MJ and Kobe, that would be interesting.

I dont think he's gonna come out with a shoe named "Kobe 1" from Nike. Adidas already has that trademark, and I dont think Nike is gonna steal it away.. They're prolly be called some extreme nick name like how GP is the Glove and stuff...

the best commercial that could be done would have to be-lebron and kobe playing one on one and then during the middle of their game jordan walks up and says can I play. That would be a classic commercial for Nike.
