No superstar will come to Lakers to join this greedy man by nature but good player.

I knew fans were going to do this....

GUYS, he's not going to ask for or make $30 million again after this year. Stop thinking that this is is normally salary. If you look at the last couple of year Kobe's salary each year has risen (this is just the way his contract was set up so at THE END he would get $30 million)

Just because he's not taking a pay cut doesn't mean he wants to make $30 million. What Kobe is making this year isn't normal/you don't see if often, get over it. I expect Kobe to make somewhere between $10-15 million next year (whether its for 1 or 2 more year)

Negotiation ploy?.... phooey ..... since when does Kobe "negotiate". This guy's pride is his biggest ally on the court and his biggest problem at times. He may come off 30 Million but my guess not by much. I've never thought he re-signs for 10 million and I've been told I'm nuts for that position..... I'll just bookmark this thread for future reference.... :man10:

Exactly. Nothing to see here. Kobes comments are clear.
He'll negotiate for the most he can get...and the Lakers will reap the benefits of his reduced salary.

Clearly a negotiating tactic. If he really wants another ring he can't expect to get it done while getting payed 30M.

He's definitely taking a pay cut. Kobe is not stupid, he knows he's not going to win **** when he's the only player on the team amongst scrubs.

Oh, you're taking the pay cut Kobe. :man9:

He makes perfect sense in that interview, but you can actually see he's well aware of the situation.

Kobe always does what's good for Kobe ... he's well aware the odds of winning another title are very low ( get worse with his 1st me approach) so his plan B is to go at KAJ record

If you start running right now you can still get a sitting spot on the wagon heading to Houston.

ah serena winters, got that cutesy/geeky thing going on

and kobe clearly says in the video it's a negotiation tactic that he (and other athletes) should have when entering that kind of situation.

Well if he won't come down to something 14-15 then I really don't think the lakers will re-sign him after this season.....
I should get an assist for that. It's an intentional pass to oneself, so it's an assist. That way people can't say all I do is shoot.

It amazes me that you made a comment like that about a teams best player and then feign shock at the reaction. You knew and expected a reaction.....otherwise why write it when you KNOW we're just a bunch of Kobe front runners while you are the rational Lakers first fan.

As soon as the going gets tough, get mad at Kobe.

It's a negotiation tactic, end of story. What, he's supposed to just say "Yeah I'll take the minimum no worries" so that the Lakers can just offer him that and we as fans can crack open some champagne and sing songs?

No of course not. He says he's going to get the best he can get. He doesn't say I want a maximum deal. He doesn't say anything that doesn't make perfect business sense.

We all knew him taking the minimum was a fantasy anyway. Doesn't mean he won't take the necessary cash to build a contender.

I didn't expect a reaction ... I just wanted to raise a key question imo about the Lakers future but I should have known better ..... if nobody think that Kobe not taking a huge paycut and a backseat to anybody until he retires could be a pb ...

Lakers moved on from a declining Shaq to stick with Kobe and it was the right decision ... 10 years + later they will have to move on from Kobe at one point ... nothing personal , just business

If Kobe is really all about winning like he has always said (and shown) he will take a paycut. I don't think its fair to expect him to take the minimum.. But I will honestly never look at him the same way if he doesn't take some sort of pay cut. Even if its enough to just add a solid role player. That final piece. If kobe changes his stance, the Lakers can literally get 2 stars and a solid mid level while keeping Kobe. If he wants that final run, he needs to take a small pay cut at least. These are different times now, its not the early 2000's. 10-14 million is still a boat load of money and a helps the team a ton.
