Kobe won't sign a shoe contract until after the Finals

I get a lot of emails asking what is up with Kobe's shoe contract. This is what we know today:

Kobe is icing Nike until after the Finals.

Kobe's statement is he doesn't want to negotiate during the playoffs, and for good reason. The real reason is Nike isn't meeting Kobe's asking price, so Kobe (ie. his negotiating staff) is burning Nike by taking away media opportunity for the WCF and Finals if and when the Lakers make it that far.

In short, he won't sign now until late June or July, but don't be surprised if something gets hammered out prior to the WCF if the Lakers are involved.

DON'T HATE ON KOBE'S GAME, HE PLAYS WAY BETTER THAN ALOT OF "YOUR BOYS" THAT WENT TO COLLEGE. It makes me laugh when uneducated "Queens" fans post their opinions and spell simple words wrong.. Come on, most of us type using "ur" instead of "you're" and that's not ignorant... But when their fans can't spell... :man10:

It just makes me wonder if they're gonna start bringin out the cowbells in the Utah series..

If they're gonna post an opinion, at least have some facts to back it up, and not just, "Kobe sucks" and "He never went to college." :man3:

Kobe doesn't drink or smoke, hes a gym rat, that's all there is to it....

Holding out until after winning a 4th consecutive title is very smart and enterprising of Kobe. His stock will definitely rise then! Nike knows Kobe is worth whatever money he wants.
