Yeah, I read that the other day. So, Ebanks, Morris, Meeks, Jamison, Sacre, & Duhon; just my opinion of who might be gone and not re-signed. I could be wrong, though.

Well, I certainly hope it's Duhon & this doesn't mean they won't be able to retain Clark. They would have to buy out Duhon if he is indeed the 6th open spot. I would think with that cheap buyout he has decent trade value.. If we're willing to take on a little salary we could deal Duhon imo. Will be disappointed if we just buy him out, but if we make the right moves following that, I'll get over it. I also don't think you let Meeks walk when you can retain him for 1.5M, unless they already have other wings in mind. You can't trade our only other SG when we don't know how Kobe's recovery will go.

I'd like to keep Twan he is great coming off the bench
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

I wonder who the lakers are telling these things. must be talking to agents about FAs and guys that might go undrafted?

This comment is from someone who has been conditioned by the Laker's bench play of the last decade.... :man10:

He was decent and even good at times but consistent he wasn't..... but then again outside of Kobe who was?

^ Agreed I wouldn't be mad at keeping Blake but if we can upgrade to Foye or Augustin or someone like that for the minimum or mini MLE, we have to dump Blake. Role players like him aren't worth his salary with the tax penalties in place now. Ideally we'd deal Nash & keep Blake but that seems really unlikely.. I don't think it's impossible to upgrade from Blake at a much better value.

I like Tawn but he's not good enough to completely ignore defense.. We'll be better off with Pau?/Clark/Hill/FA getting those minutes.

I hope MWP being amnestied is opening one of these spots.

Sounds like one may be Dwight if "the source" is to,be believed......

We can hope it's
Meeks
Pau
Ebanks
Jamison
Sacre
Goudelock

I'd eat MWP if it meant we'd trade Pau for picks and pieces......

i've always wondered about reports where teams are telling other teams things like this. what reason do anonymous lakers sources have to tell anonymous other teams' sources exactly how many open spots they'll have next season?

I'm still willing to give Meeks another chance. He played bad but I think its a confidence issue.

Only one I would keep or consider keeping,

Kobe
Dwight
Pau
Blake
Jordan Hill
Sacre
Meeks
Clark

everyone else can go.

one of Blake of MWP is going to be amnestied.

If we can sign Augutine to the mMLE, I'd think we amnesty Blake and move MWP to the backup 4 (along with Hill/Clark). IMO he can be more than decent there. This probably also is effected by what Jamison does.

If Blake can bring in a solid SF or we can sign a coupe good ones, then MWP is out.

Morris, gl0ck, Sacre, and Ebanks are gone. Meeks is a team option and Jamison looks like he may want to go elsewhere. Duhon has another year.

Like others said, TRIM THE FAT.

^^^ I think I'd let Clark go if it meant having to sign him for anything longer than a year. He was not that consistent and came back to earth toward the end of the year.

Considering Clark coming off from Orlando Magic with no minute to LA this year and becomes a solid rotation player for us, showing so much of improvement and development in just one season and still got some upside with him, I think we keep Clark as long as he doesn't get crazy with his contract demands. Earl Clark is a PF not a SF, we need to use him right and put him into his best position to succeed.

Actually I wouldn't mind also if we can keep Jamison for one more year at the vet min, but so far seems like he wasn't thrilled with D'Antoni in LA and already decided wanted to go somewhere.

Maybe so that team knows how many players they can use to put together a package of smaller salaries that add up to Pau's.

IMO, keep the following, scrap the rest:
Kobe
nash
Howard
Gasol
Antawn
Goudelock
Blake
...sorry metta
Every time I begin to ask, "Is he really as great as I think he is?" ...He proves that he is.
Every time I begin to wonder...He proves it...That is why I won't lose hope in him.
You know who I am talking about.

My list would look a little different I'd keep

Kobe
Blake
Hill
Clark (for cheap only)
Glock (he's a cheap 14th or 15th man)
maybe Sacre, he's a decent 3rd string center for the price

the rest can be traded or walk for all I care. I'd keep Howard if he signed for 15 mil per, not max, but that's not likely.

All things considered, Meeks is a player I wouldn't mind retaining on this squad. His shooting issues were largely mental (IMO). And surprise surprise, this team's chemistry was a joke all season.

Being realistic, he's a shooter who at least tries on D. He's a specialist, he's not going to make or break a team's season single-handedly. But having a functioning team chemistry can mean the difference between Meeks being a role player, or dead weight on the bench.
There are two teams that play in the Staples Center:
the LA Lakers and NBA Clippers.

that and we basically leaned on him to be our best bench player on the perimeter all season long.

Nash* / ____
Kobe / ____ / Glock
____ / ____
Clark / ____
D12 / Hill / Sacre

That would be my list of players to retain at this point.

*If I could find a trade for Nash, I would do that as well. But that probably has 5% chance of happening, so he better come back and be able to give 25-28 solid minutes and we get a back up that can play 82 games at 20-23 minutes and more on back-to-backs.
