Lakers also have an interest in Elton Brand, but he may be outside their price range

The name "Elton Brand" and words "price range" do not mix... unless it was for something in between the vet's min or the MMLE, pass
There are two teams that play in the Staples Center:
the LA Lakers and NBA Clippers.

Clearly you guys weren't paying attention to Brand this last season. He averaged 12/10 with 2 blocks per 36 minutes last season.

I think he's probably going to want more money than we'll offer him, but I would be ecstatic to have him. He's been on my radar all summer.

If Brand could return to even 3/4's of his former self I'd take him. I wanted David West but would take a healthy Brand in a heart beat
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

At this moment, can we REALLY be picky? Sure, Elton was a lot better 6 years ago, but so was Kobe.

We have no depth currently and he's still not a bad player. He'd only help us.

I actually think we have a better shot at him now than we did with Dwight. I think he still wants PT, we have plenty of that to offer now. I don't think we have a good chance of getting him, but slightly better than we did before the Dwight fiasco over the past couple days.

My interest in Brand would depend on if we were able to get LO for the minimum. If we are, I'd rather use the mini mle on Nick Young or use about 2M of it on Delfino & go after JO for the minimum to be our 4th big. Pau/Hill/LO/JO/R-Kelly/Sacre is plenty of depth in the frontcourt.. I'd use all remaining roster spots on wings & amnesty Metta.

I was paying attention. He will play well & give effort, but for how much & how long? 8 or 9 million for 65 games of Elton Brand? No thanks.

Like I said, if it's in the 5 mil range I take it. Other than that, it's salary not worth being tied to.

Isn't most FA's out of our price range?

With the contract Zaza got, Brand can clearly get something similar from another bottom feeder.

More Brand: Still awaiting official offers from several teams. As I said, #Knicks still in play. Decision will likely come early this week.

What are you smoking man?

If Brand came here it would be for something we could, you know, offer. As in he'd take 3.1 million or less.

Yup. Max we could offer is 3.183M because we are above the luxury tax threshold (~70 mil)

He'd be a bargain at 3.183M

HIGHLY unlikely he takes the offer. (Only chance I see is if he is looking to sign onto a team in which PT is pretty much guaranteed and he'd be the starter.)

He'll probably get 5.0M full MLE offers from a few teams and I wouldn't be surprised if he gets more than that.

A trio of Kobe/Pau/Brand would be VERY nice to be honest... Offensively... they are far superior to kobe/pau/dwight.

Always been a HUGE fan of Elton Brand's game. Very smart/controlled offensive player. RARELY takes bad shots. Solid defender too!

I'd be soo pumped if Elton signed with LAL.

I guess he's looking at a 2-3 years deal in the 4-6 millions ( a season ) range ... not going to happen with the Lakers

Of course, here comes realdeal to set me straight! Can I ask you what you're smoking? In my first post I said I'd take him if his contract would be between the vets min & mmle. 3.1 mil falls into that category.

Seeing how Pachulia just got 15 mil for three years, I'd say the going rate for Brand is in the 8 to 9 range, per year. Not only is it impossible for us to offer that, it's not worth it.

Stop arguing with yourself.
