1. 1993

2. Born and raised in LA, it just kind of happened

3. Kobe, Shaq, Magic, Nick Van Exel, Eddie Jones, Robert Horry (i love KAJ & Baylor from highlights but never got to see them play live)

4. Yes

5. The 5 times i was watching live when the clock hit zero and we were the last team standing

6. somewhere inbetween. used to be fully obsessed with lakers basketball but i just don't have time anymore. still watch & try to stay updated whenever i can

7. means supporting the team through thick and thin. we made it through 04-05, we'll make it through this rough patch. to quote a carls jr. laker poster, "those who endure, conquer"

8. a few hours a week to read up on news, rumors, opinion, etc

9. not really. i want to get out to a couple games next year but i have bills to pay

10. i have a couple kobe jerseys (one 8, one 24), an eddie jones jersey, and a magic jersey. that's about it though

11. first game was 1993 (or 1994, i forget), patrick chewing & the knicks visiting the forum. overall i think i've been to 9 games including that one

12. felt like watching theater. ive been to other sporting events but the lakers games are different. the way the crowd is blacked out and the court is lit really made it feel like a show to me

13. absolutely

14. not really

1 What year did you become a laker fan?
As far as I know, I have been a fan my whole life, but I say when you are a kid, watching a whole basketball game is a huge feat in itself, so I say I have been a fan since 2000 because that is when I remember sitting down with my family and watching whole games and everything with my family.

2 How did you become a laker fan?
If we're going on the 2000 thing, it was the excitement I got watching the Portland series. If we are going off of being a fan since I was born.....family. Born and raised in Orange County, where my Dad was raised and my Mom was raised in Fresno but lived most of her life in Orange as well, so just everyone was a Laker fan.

3 Who are your favorite lakers players?
Kobe, Shaq, Horry, Fisher, Madsen, Artest, Pau, Dwight, Harper, Odom, Shannon, Farmar, Profit, and a couple others that I can't think of right now. Basically most of the people I saw. I do like Magic and KAJ and the like, but I never saw them....just heard of what it was like to watch them.

4 Is being a laker fan a big part of your family?
OH YEAH. Parties will be thrown to watch games and dinners and recordings will work out to watch games as well. VERY SERIOUS in my family. People post kids wearing Laker Gear all the time.

5 What are memories that stand out from lakers games?
Horry's Game 4 shot, Portland 2000 series (so much so that for a while of my life, I thought they beat Portland for the Championship and not Indiana), the Philly Finals. I went to a Laker game on my birthday (I want to say 2003) where they lost to the Clippers, it was sad. Kobe hitting like 14 3s against the Sonics in 2003.

6 Would you consider yourself a casual fan or a more extensive fan?
I used to be Extensive, I have calmed down to Casual. Every now and then the Extensive will come back, but not all the time.

7 What does being a laker fan mean to you?
I am there for the team whatever happens. I want those wins and championships, but I accept that time doesn't wait for anyone.

8 how much time do you devote to your laker fandom?
What I can based on lifestyle (school, work, etc)

9 do you spend a good amount of money on your laker fandom?
Not so much

10 do you have any jerseys or souvenirs that you collect?
YES! I have an old #8, a white #24, an Artest #37, and I bought a Fisher Jazz jersey to rub salt in wounds (I live in Utah right now). I want more though, like a Malone #11 and others like that.

11 have you been to a game if so how many games?
i can't remember. Went to one in LA and have probably been to 5 or 6 here in Utah.

12 if you have been to a game explain the feeling how you perceived it?
Some were good. Some were bad. Depended on the refs.

13 has being a laker fan led to new friendships with other laker fans?
Kind of, not really.

14 do you have any superstitions or traditions when lakers play?
Occasionally, but when I think they are accurate, they get messed up.

15 what laker coach has been your favorite?
Phil.

1 What year did you become a laker fan?
I really became conscious of it around the '83-'84 season, the same year we experienced heartbreak at the feet of our hated rivals.

2 How did you become a laker fan?
My parents are Laker fans so it was obvious I was going to be one too.

3 Who are your favorite lakers players?
The guys in the '80's were like superheros to me. Magic, Kareem, Byron, Big Game James, also NVE

4 Is being a laker fan a big part of your family?
My brother and parents are Laker fans so yeah.

5 What are memories that stand out from lakers games?
Way too many to list but the top of the list are of course are the 3 championships we won against our hated enemy. That is always the sweetest.

6 Would you consider yourself a casual fan or a more extensive fan?
I live and die by this ish, to the point where it involves my mood. I think I need to take a step back to be honest.

7 What does being a laker fan mean to you?
It's a part of life, like a limb.

8 how much time do you devote to your laker fandom?
I have no idea really. Too much time obviously.

9 do you spend a good amount of money on your laker fandom?
Yes, I try to get to games when I can but it has gotten prohibitively expensive. Watching games is the primary reason I shell out for cable and a DVR.

10 do you have any jerseys or souvenirs that you collect?
I have 2 baseball caps, jerseys of Nick Van Exel, Eddie Jones, Kobe #8, Shaq throwback style, Gary Payton and Steve Nash. I also have the carls jr bobblehead promotion from 2004, I managed to get all 5. I have a license plate holder, a Laker girls calendar, a couple of banners, a poster of Magic somewhere and a bunch of t shirts and a starter Laker jacket from the early '90's which matching cap which has disappeared and a couple of books about the Lakers.

11 have you been to a game if so how many games?
Hmm... I think I've been to in between 10 - 20 games. 2 at the fabulous forum and the rest at staples.

12 if you have been to a game explain the feeling how you perceived it?
It's spectacular, especially if you get to go to a playoff game. It's hard to describe.

13 has being a laker fan led to new friendships with other laker fans?
Not really but I've converted some of my friends who weren't into basketball into being fans.

14 do you have any superstitions or traditions when lakers play?
Actually I don't believe it or not.

15 what laker coach has been your favorite?
Easily the zen master, big chief triangle, the greatest coach in history, Phil Jackson.

Ferguson, we hear you.
RIP Mike Brown.

Mide 1980s.
My dad was a fan, I liked Magic.
Kobe, Magic, Shaq, Kareem, Sedale (Sasha, Bynum)
I have bought League Pass two of the past four seasons, I listen to, or watch, nearly every game. My wife can't stand to watch games with me because I get pissed off too easily.

Too many memories. Mostly Shaq and Kobe.

I think I'm a pretty hardcore fan.

If I watch basketball, it's the Lakers. I don't care to watch any other team. That's being a Lakers fan.

I spend perhaps too much time on Lakers stuff.

I don't spend too much money on the Lakers. In the past five years or so I've seen them twice, sprung for League Pass twice.

I don't collect souvenirs.
Two games. Lakers in Dallas when Turiaf and Vlad were on the team, and I was at Howard's return to Orlando this year.

I haven't had great seats at a Lakers game. It was fun to see them in person, fun to drink some beers, saw Stu and Billy. That was cool.

Nah; I hate Lakers fans.

No superstitions.

PJ, then a distant second - Riley.

Became a fan in 2000 (I was 6-7). My dad called me into his room to show me how big and dominant Shaq was lol, and I just got hooked with the team. Even though he called me in to see Shaq, Kobe was the one I watched the most, I found his style of play just so awesome.

Fav players: Kobe, Kareem, Magic, West, Shaq, Pau and many others.

Too many memories, the best one is probably the night we beat Boston in Game 7, 2010. Never had a sport event made me happier.
Seeing the Lakers play live for the first time (I live in Argentina, travelling isn't easy) was also awesome. It was last year in a game at Staples against the Grizzlies, which we won.

I'm a very hardcore fan. I can't imagine being more hardcore, at least considering where I live.
I spend A LOT of time on anything NBA and Laker related. Probably too much time.

I spend the necessary money to be able to watch every game live, and like I said, I was able to travel to LA to see them live. I just can't do that often because there are other places my family and me want to visit (I'm currently in Europe) and it's also quite expensive to justify going back there so soon.

I have a game jersey and a bunch of t-shirts.

Being at Staples watching the Lakers felt a little surreal. After watching them on TV all those years it was just insane to actually be there, sitting so close to the players I loved to watch.
Also Staples is a great arena.

Most of my friends love basketball and also watch NBA games, but none of them are Lakers fans... I've got you guys though :man10:

I'm not superstitious.

Obviously Phil.
"The first time I ever saw my uniform hanging in the locker I put it on right away, and it just felt like I was putting on golden armour. From that day forward, I just called it 'the golden armour', it just felt like there was something mystical and magical about it" - Kobe Bryant.

1. I became a fan in the 1993 playoffs (92/93 season).

2 I was 8 or 9 depending on when the playoffs started (I forget by now), my dad had been a Lakers fan his whole life, so asked me to watch the playoffs with him as I assume he felt it was time for me to become a fan and enjoy the Laker with him as I'd already started to play basketball and love it. We lost that first round series to the Suns, and my first Laker experience was fun, had me emotionally invested already, and ended in heartbreak, as it would for the next 6 seasons after that. I remember getting so into it, I couldn't stand Charles Barkley immediately, I was yelling at the tv with my dad, and when it was over I was seriously bummed. So unlike those that got to enjoy the 80's Lakers, I tasted only defeat the entire 90's, so man was that first title in 2000 after all that suffering (6 or 7 years to a 9 through 15 year old feels like forever remember) sweet, I appreciated it so much having never experienced a championship winning team before (my baseball team is the Angels, so it was only losing on that end too).

3. Favorite Laker players all time of the years I've watched, Kobe, Shaq, Fisher, Pau, Odom, Fox, Horry, Shaw, Ron Harper, Glen Rice (no not joking, loved his shot, loved when he hit big 3's) Ariza, Shannon Brown, Van Exel, Sedale Threatt, Anthony Peeler, I was always mostly a fan of guards.

4. Of the ones that watch sports, my entire family on both sides are Lakers fans.

5. Too many memories, good and bad. All the playoff runs with Kobe and Shaq, game 7 2000 vs Portland WCF, the Horry shot game against the Queens in '02, steamrolling the West in the 2001 playoffs, all the clutch Kobe shots and huge scoring games, Laker magic comebacks, dominant Shaq performances. On the bad side being owned by Utah during the 90's, before those times Vlade being a choker and missing 2 free throws in a playoff game against the Sonics that cost us the game.

6. Hardcore Lakers fan

7. Well, I mean I have Laker stuff all around my room, the actual newspapers from the day after winning the last 5 championships that I save are framed on my wall, I have jerseys, cups, towels, a Lakers license plate cover and decals on my car, stuff like that, so being a Lakers fan means a lot to me. Other than that stuff I don't go crazy over it though, I don't let it ruin my real life when we lose or anything.

8. Well, I'm on here a ton, so probably too much time is devoted to being a Lakers fan. :man10: I watch every game that I can, which is usually all 82 because those I miss I DVR for later.

9. I don't spend a lot of money on Lakers fandom, I have collected things over the years, but the games I've been to I got free tickets, and the stuff I've bought doesn't cost a lot.

11. I have been to 2 games at Staples, both during the Shaq/Kobe championship years, both were great times. Other than that I try and go to one preseason game every year at the Honda center here in Anaheim.

12. Live games are way different than on TV. All you hear is the sound of the players talking, shoes squeaking, the crowd talking and cheering, and the PA announcer. Without the tv announcers and tv music that goes with it, it's a strange feeling at first. There's nothing like it though, when the team is rolling it's incredibly fun, the crowd is into it and loud. And when it's a close game like one of the ones I went to it's very intense and the crowd is on the edge of their seats and ready to explode when big plays are made.

13. I've made a few new friends through being a Lakers fan yeah, and I find they usually know a lot about basketball in general so it's fun to talk about the NBA with them.

14. I do not have superstitions, my dad did, but I don't seriously believe in that stuff, I'll only joke around about it.

15. Phil Jackson, he's the best.

1. Became a serious fan around 1993 just in time for the Randy Pfund era.

2 Listening to Chick Hearn call a game. Been hooked ever since.

3 Magic, Worthy, Kobe, and Gasol.

4 Yes. Currently training my little ones.

5 The Refrigerator.

6 Let me put it this way, when the game is on, everything else stops.

7 A means to put the rest of life on hold and watch some talented basketball players do what they do best.

8 Everyday.

9 League pass every year.

10 No jerseys :disagree: . But that will change very soon.

11 Only one, in Philly.

12 A lot faster than watching it on TV. Other than that, AWESOME!

13 Not Laker fans, but fans of other teams who still respect the Lakers.

14 Not really the superstitious type.

15 Phil Jackson.

1. 1997

2. Years before 1997 I initially liked the Minnesota Timberwolves only because I liked wolves and my local high school where I would watch a lot of games their mascot was a wolf. So I put two and two together. Come 1997 I started watching a lot more NBA basketball and nationally televised games with my dad (who was a David Robinson fan) and I just always intrigued by this young Lakers team. It was only when Kobe eventually air balled those 3 shots in the semifinals in the Playoffs that I said I wanted to really follow this team and to see where this player who I liked (Kobe) would go from there. Would he not recover from that failure or would be become better? The rest is history……

3. Kobe, Fisher, Shaq, Horry, Odom, Fox,
(there are probably a select few more I could say, but these are the ones that come to my mind first and foremost)

4. Being a Lakers fan is not at all a big part of my family. My mom knows pretty much nothing about sports. My bad even though he’s in a better place now would always watch sports with me but never really had a favorite NBA team. He just always liked the clean, blue-collared workers.

5. Geez…. There are so many great memories that I couldn’t possible name them all. Just to name some of my favorites that comes to mind right now, no order: Fisher’s 0.4 (probably a top 3 moments for me in Lakers history), Kobe’s 2 ridiculous shots against Portland to send game into OT over Ruben Patterson and then to win the game shooting a falling jumper from near half court, all of Horry’s clutch shots for us in the Playoffs (Against Kings, in the corner against 76ers in Finals, and of course against the Spurs), Lakers huge 4th quarter comebacks against the Mavs and Trailblazers, the day we traded for Pau Gasol while being able to keep Odom and Bynum. I could just keep on giving you more of my favorite moments but it would take too long those I’ll just leave everyone with those that I have listed so far.

6. No question a die-hard, religious Lakers fan.

7. Being a Lakers fan to me means that you stay with the team through the great times, but especially the difficult times. Fortunately for me since following this team in 1997 I haven’t really had to go through a lot of hard times for that long. Being a die-hard Lakers fan doesn’t always mean you have to have the most memorabilia, or have gone to the most games, or have met the most players, it means to me that you have that emotional attachment with the team. One of the biggest reasons why I love the Lakers so much is that I grew up with this team. In 1997 I was 7 years old, I’m just turning 23 years old real soon which means I watched many of the Players throughout the years grow up amongst me, in particularly Kobe Bryant. Lakers are as much a part of me as anything in this world and that likely be the case until the day I die.

8. Every day I am listening, watching, reading, or analyzing something that deals with the Lakers. One of the reasons if not the main reason why I love getting on clublakers.com with everyone is that I sort of view it as a family. I may not know certain members real well personally, but I know what kinds of things personality wise, expertise, or great humor they will bring to the forum. We all in some shape or form love the Lakers and going through great or tough times like right now is makes it a lot easier to cope with and a lot better when we get back to the mountain top because we were all in it together.

9. I don’t really spend a whole lot of money on Lakers fandom. I have never been a fan who owns a whole lot of Lakers stuff (memorabilia) because that not me. My passions and love of the Lakers is more internally. When I lived up in Northern California (2 hours north of Sacramento) the last few years I lived up there I would go to both of the games the Lakers played that Kings in Arco Arena every year. Now that I live and go to school in San Diego I haven’t been to a live game in about 2 years. With this said I’ve gotten the NBA League Pass for the past 8-9 years and don’t miss a game. So there is some money I spend there.

10. I own 2 Kobe jerseys that are both authentic jersey. One is the Las Vegas All-star game Kobe jersey and the other one is a gold jersey. The funny things about that authentic gold Kobe jersey I have is that I have sasha’s autograph on it from a game in Sacramento I went to when he was on the team. I arrived at Arco really early to watch the player warm up with a buddy of mine. Before going to the game I made a large sign in bold sharpie lettering that said, “Where the Machine Happens”. After Sasha got down warming up he came over to all of us Lakers fans standing there to sign autographs. I yelled out and showed him my sign. He laughed and made his way over to me. I told he could go ahead and autograph that gold Kobe jersey I was wearing. So now whenever I do wear that Kobe jersey around people always think its Kobe’s signature. I also own a Lakers Blue throwback buttoned up jacket that I really like but is way to small now. Last I own a Kobe Bryant sweater that I got at his Kobe Bryant Basketball Academy, which was the first year he had his camp. I got the chance to meet and talk with him a couple of times and on the last day of the game he allowed all the campers to have one thing signed by him. Well I didn’t know he was going to do this so I just have him sign this white sweater I just bought beforehand that he could sign.

11. Yes I have been to a game, 5-6 games total I believe. 1 at Staples and the rest at Arco Arena.

12. The games in person are always cool, especially if he have seats where there are a bunch of other Lakers fan around you. That’s the best especially in a hostile environment like Arco Arena. We don’t know each other but we still together and do our part to make our presence known.

13. Not really, I wish though

14. I used to have a few superstitions a few years ago when the Lakers were in the 2010 NBA Finals. But overall I’d say I don’t have any right now. I do have a few traditions when the Lakers play a game on TNT but they are way too hard to explain without it sounding confusing.

15. Phil Jackson. No Doubt
