Planning for next year doesn't mean just giving up on winning games.

I don't want to imply that we should tank. Nevertheless, we would be winning games more for respectability at this point rather then making the playoffs, IMO.

If we plan on keeping Dwight then we absolutely must do nothing even close to tanking. Planning for next year if it includes Dwight means learning to win with him, Kobe and Nash right now so that next season they can come in with chemistry built. That's why I want 'Antoni fired now, because IMO he's not our future and it would be one step towards moving towards next season. Plus, tanking when you don't have a first round pick is pointless, and certain players on this team don't have it in them to do it anyway.

^I agree. I think winning games is important at any stage during the season no matter the record. For example, the Carolina Panthers got off to a horrible start; but they won their last 4 games and are heading into next season on a positive note.

After watching this season and our inconsistency, I just don't think we have enough to make the playoffs, IMO. Nevertheless, it doesn't mean we should keep trying to improve game in and game out...

dwight should have come out publicly after brown was fired and campaigned for phil, just like kobe said his choice to replace brown was phil

as far as i remember, dwight didn't say anything about the coaching situation. if dwight had made it public that he wanted phil, don't we all have to assume even the biggest POS in jim buss would have been forced to hire phil?

You're assuming that Jim Buss cares about anything other than his own opinion.

Besides, telling the FO what to do 5 games into your first season with the team is a pretty risky move.

Phil doesn't fix this guys.... I'd have preferred him but I'd bet our record would be about the same. How soon some forget Phil and his distaste for youth and unproven players. Our bench would get even fewer minutes while the starters more.

The Triangle doesn't help Howard as it is a regimented offense and doesn't use screens to free up Bigs. He'd receive post touches.... which we've seen he's not the best at converting..... at least compared to what he can do with a penetrating guard that creates chaos in the paint.

I think longing for Phil is a way of ignoring what's in front of us...... the team doesn't work because of the pieces and lack of depth..... Would Phil be better than what we have now?..... sure.... a lot in some respects.... would we be a top 10 team?.... I don't think so.

Also remember Phil's a mind game guy..... Howard's overly sensitive as it is.... imaging Phil's little digs to the Media and how they would effect him..... Kobe used to get motivated. Howard would probably shut down.
