Lakers Partially Sign Marcus Landry

Lakers Partially Sign Marcus Landry

Postby Doc Brown on Wed Jul 31, 2013 5:44 pm

@Mlandry11: I thank God for this Opportunity to be apart of a great organization #lakers #HardWorkPaysOff #itsallGod

@ramonashelburne: Marcus Landry's deal with the Lakers will have a small guarantee. More of a camp invite. But Lakers do like him

Looks like CDR Did Not Impress Much during Summer League as he hasn't gotten squat of any kind of deal or camp invite yet. Surprising. Seemed like he did better last year.

I don't view him as trash. he's got a very low ceiling, but he does one thing well (shoot) and a few other things adequately (team d). there's a place in the league for guys like that, probably moreso than guys like cdr, who have more talent but no one thing they do very well.

Landry makes more sense than Elias Harris to me. Still scratching my head over that one.

Eh. I'd say it's about a push, but it's surprising that they'd get both.

Only a small amount guaranteed, but any amount guaranteed means the Lakers are that much further away from Douglas-Roberts which surprises the f*** out of me. :man10:

After spending all day talking about how Chris had the inside track... Maybe they'll try to stash him? That kind of sucks for Chris after he sacrificed his game for them in the Summer League when he could have been trying out for other teams.

I like the addition of Marcus Landry, our roster is set then.

C - Pau / Kaman / Sacre
PF - Hill / Kelly / Harris
SF - Johnson / Young / Landry
SG - Kobe / Meeks
PG - Nash / Farmar / Blake
Michael Jordan : "My Chicago team are the all-time greatest"
Magic Johnson : "Put me with Kareem, James Worthy, Cooper and Byron Scott, and we'd dominate your Bulls team"

Ray Allen...that's a little too much of a stretch even for sarcasm. I'd prefer something like "next James Jones"...though that might be too realistic to be sarcastic enough...Next Keith Van Horn? :man1: :man10: :man9:
The End is nigh. Time for a total Cut and Shuffle. Kobe contract was a mistake...time to avoid making more. The future is here, whether we want it to be or not. An era is over, but for the death rattle, and it's time for the cycle to begin anew. Growth and change are scary and painful, but alas...nothing worth achieving comes easily.

Expect Lakers to sign sharpshooter Marcus Landry (@mlandry11) soon. And he's actually good bet to make the team: http://bit.ly/14MHBqt ($)

I'd say he's similar to what we'd get out of our rookie Kelly and with Kelly not signing, he's probable to make the squad actually.

He and Shawne Williams are virtually like the same kind of player. I would say amongst those two whoever has the better training camp should make the team.

This is why the Pre-season games will be so much fun to watch this year because there are so many position battles and we have a ton of players who might make the team or might not.

I'd say Shawne is a better athlete, but I think I'd prefer Marcus.

And good point on preseason. It should be really fun to watch.

It should be a fun training camp with all these guys fighting for a roster spot. Nice to see you players and not washout veterans

I liked him a lot in summer league, he works hard just like his brother, he's just shorter. I hoped he would get a camp invite at least, I liked him better than Harris anyway. Yeah, he's no star, he's like 28, but I don't know how he hasn't found a team in the NBA yet.

I too have always liked him better than Harris.

Sure it isn't the best scenario but it's all we can do for now and I believe Mitch did a great job in getting talent that could potentially help us in '14.

What an awesome fan you are!!! I've seen way too many negative posts lately regarding the upcoming year. Do you expect the Lakers to win or compete for Championship every single year? Get real man. That's just not the reality. Remember the Smush Parker, Kwame Brown & Chris Mihm years? We need to pay our due and re-tool. I have faith in this organization.
BTW I'm far more exited this year than the past few years. As a Lakers fan,all I want is for the players on our team to compete and put it all out on the court. With these group of guys, I know that they will play with their hearts out. I'll support them Win or LOSE.
