This is gonna be cool just because of the fact that we haven't retired a jersey since Gail Goodrich (right?) in the mid 90's.

Kinda odd that they're waiting so late into the season to do it though.

Interesting, I expected them to wait until Kobe retired before doing this for Shaq. Should be fun to see some jerseys go up on the wall, can't say I remember ever watching a jersey retiring ceremony before, will be cool to see Shaq in LA on good terms again being honored.

I see it as, wait till end of season, so when Dwight's mind is thinking few months before i have to decide, stay in LA or leave elsewhere.. here comes unveiling of a statue, & a jersey being retired

...looks to be a busy season. Hope there is a LAKER ceremony on the Staples Floor for the last NBA game IN JUNE.
Nor can the Lakers get blamed for always making the right decisions over decades. At some point its not just luck or "gamble", its superior management and superior ownership.

Shaq's number seems a little soon but as Wiz noted..... Jerry isn't going to be here much longer I'm afraid....

Kareem's statue may be for the same reason..... I'm going to try to make it to LA for this one....

Wilkes is way overdue IMO.... Second best SF we've had.... and no Worthy isn't the best.... :man12:

Correct me if i'm wrong, but didn't we do Wilts' and Elgins on the same night? I don't remember which one was first, but I'd guess Wilt.
