Why not play Clippers opening night (which is a terrible matchup for us anyway) and then play a "normal" team the next night?

I agree that viewership is the main reason for this (hint- look up at my first post in this thread), but to put us against back-to-back playoff teams in our own division right off the bat possibly without Kobe... Seems pretty cruel.

What the heck the league put us playing the cHeat on the Christmas day ? Lakers aren't a championship contenders this coming season there is no point putting us playing the defending champion on this marquee day. I hope we pull out a starting lineup of Sacre-Kelly-Wesley-Meeks-Blake just to screw Stern and the league.

So we basically have a real good chance of starting off 0-2. Not very fun.

i sense an 0-2 start. no way clippers and warriors lose their first games especially after kinda big off seasons for them.

Well I don't know who the Clippers are playing, but we could go back and forth on this for a lot of teams. Maybe the Lakers are at home, which forces the Clippers on the road. And potential opponents for the Clippers only have the arena available for basketball games on certain days, and so on.

True is though, at the end of the day it is harsh for us to have that back-to-back sans Kobe. But I don't think they take this type of thing into consideration when scheduling, to be honest. And it's probably good.

I think they probably do consider these things. Otherwise why have marquee match-ups on big days?

Best thing about Lakers coming to MSG on Jan. 26 is that Kobe (honorary Italian) should be up and running

i was thinking of doing that. i live in Colorado so nobody here will be foaming at the mouth to fly to NY for a Lakers game. i'm down to take the trip by myself but I'd def like to meet up with some fans. not a lot of chances left to see Kobe at MSG.

Good for you :jam2: As you were saying the chances of seeing Kobe live AND in MSG are slim to none. If you have the chance, you take it!

I know you'll have a blast

Bump. Schedule has been announced.

Mike Trudell ‏@LakersReporter 2m
Anyone expecting LAL to cease being relevant? RT @EthanJSkolnick: The Lakers make 10 appearances on TNT. The Heat make nine.

Mike Trudell ‏@LakersReporter 3m
The first time LAL host Houston and Dwight Howard isn't until Feb. 19, though LAL goes to Houston early (Nov. 7).

Dave McMenamin ‏@mcten 3m
Mike Brown and the Cavs (w/ Earl Clark!) comes to Staples Center to play the Lakers on Jan. 14

Mike Trudell ‏@LakersReporter 5m
Usually, LAL spend a lot of time at home early, but it's very balanced this season. They'll play an even home/road schedule through Jan. 1.

Mike Trudell ‏@LakersReporter 2m
LAL have their yearly and lengthy Grammy road trip from Jan. 15-26 (at PHX, BOS, TOR, CHI, MIA, ORL, NYK).

Dave McMenamin ‏@mcten 2m
Brutal six-game finish to the season for the Lakers: @ LAC, HOU, GSW, MEM, @ UTA, @ SAS. Tough challenge if they're on the bubble.

Mike Trudell ‏@LakersReporter 34s
LAL will play 19 back-to-backs this season, three more than last season's 16. They also have two uncommonly long breaks of three off days.

Sooooooo the schedule....

Let me guess.... 41 at home and 41 on the road again....
