It is possible. I hope we pull out at least 4 of those games. I think the Houston, Charlotte, New Orleans, and Phoenix games have a chance to be competitive and hope we can pull off...

It all depends on how these guys approach the season. I believe in Byron's philosophy and I believe in Kobe's hard work rubbing off on these kids.

I think we'll start out well and make the League take notice, but I could certainly see the pessimistic, cynical view as well.

Did a quick run through and have us losing to all playoff-level teams after the all star break. That's 11 losses assuming we lose all games to playoff level competition.

Not a bad 2.5 month stretch......

I should also note I don't consider the Nets, Hawks, & Knicks playoff level teams.

I think we have a good start too. A lot of teams will underestimate us and they won't even know what to gameplan for since our team is so different than last years.

Only 16 Back-2-Backs and the Grammy Trip is only 4 games this year. Not too bad of a schedule. We do however, start out playing 4 games in 5 nights but we're the freshest to start the year.

Finishing the year off playing the Sacramento Kings in the last 2 games is nice if we need to finish strong.

Exactly. We couldn't have a better time to play 4 games in 5 nights than the first few games of the season.

5-5.

First four games of the season: how many wins you got for LA? Over/under: 1.5.

I go over.

I think we surprise the League and beat Houston opening night (remember last season we beat the Clippers opening night).

Then we ride that to a win in Phoenix. Lose to the Clippers and the 4th game I want to say win, but my brain says loss. I'll go against my brain and predict 3-1!

You should have predicted 2-2. I think it realistic. Sure we could also go 1-3, but - as you said - I think we're going to surprise some teams and go 2-2. In fact, I am pretty convinced we'll win against Houston. But instead of Blake hitting the big shot, it will be Lin. :man9:

Honestly, looking at Houston's team are Parsons, Lin, Asik-less, and adding one journeyman Ariza.

Meanwhile, we've improved, Kobe likely back, and no MDA. We already showed we could beat them last year, in Houston nonetheless, with a less talented team, I hope we tear them apart.

After a busy start to the season, playing 10 of 17 at home through October and November, the Lakers hit the road for most of December..

Only five of the Lakers' 15 December games will be at Staples Center. Seven will be played against teams that made the playoffs last season. The Lakers will play on consecutive nights three times.

Despite spending little time at home, the Lakers have what looks to be a manageable December schedule.

The month starts with a three-game trip against the Detroit Pistons on Dec. 2, followed by a quick trip to the Washington Wizards on Dec 3. On Dec. 5, the Lakers will make their lone visit to play the Boston Celtics, before returning home.

After being host to the New Orleans Pelicans (Dec. 7) and Sacramento Kings (Dec. 9), the Lakers will get two days off before their second three-game trip of the month.

After a trip to San Antonio against the champion Spurs on Dec. 12, the Lakers play their second-back-to-back set with visits to the Minnesota Timberwolves (Dec.14) and Indiana Pacers (Dec. 15).

The Lakers will have three days off to prepare for a home game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Dec. 19. They'll quickly fly up to Sacramento to visit the Kings on Dec. 21, before returning back to Staples Center for the Golden State Warriors on Dec. 23.

The Lakers will travel to play the Chicago Bulls on Christmas Day, followed by a trip to Dallas to play the Mavericks on Dec. 26.

The team returns home to host the Phoenix Suns on Dec. 28 before ending the year on the 30th, visiting the Denver Nuggets.

Of the 15 games, three are scheduled to be on national television (TNT and ESPN).

The Lakers may have a difficult time finishing October and November with a winning record. Despite a heavy load on the road in December, the competition is slightly lighter and the games are relatively well spaced on the schedule.

If the Lakers can quickly learn how to play together and stay injury-free, they may be able to near a .500 record by 2015, with 15 to 16 wins in their first 32 tries.

The schedule is not that relevant IMO. This teams biggest obstacle initially this upcoming season will be itself. Learning a new system.... older players finding limits.... meshing players that will be out of position or over their heads etc.

8-2 for a team that a lot of the more astute here have predicted will win between 35 and 40 games seems very optimistic. 1/4 of your wins in 1/8th of games?....

Do you think we'll be a better team after the All-star Break than to start the season once we build on the things you mentioned? Integrating a new system, meshing players, etc?

If we can't beat the likes of Suns, Charlotte or Memphis, we might be better of tanking because the playoffs will be unreachable.
