Lakers Select a Seat Day

Lakers Select a Seat Day

Postby Pig Miller on Sun Aug 10, 2014 11:06 am

Hey everyone, after several years, I'm finally up for my season tickets. Can anyone tell me how the select a seat day works or perhaps share their experience?

What I don't want is to be left with seats that need to be 'piggy backed'

Also, how likely is it in future years to add additional seats to my current season seats (assuming I opt in this year)?

Appreciate any of the help and advice you guys can provide

Thanks man. I'm definitely excited.

You must have some data analysis available on season tickets to share. You're the go to guy for number crunching here

How much money are you looking to spend? I'm a 12 year STH and my seats are the $34/seats. This year I upgraded from 321 to 320, but there was almost ZERO available seats in the $34 sections. You might want to get anything you can if they are piggyback, 12 years ago I got 2 singles, one in row 9 and one in row 10, a few seats apart...but I just wanted to get into the stadium. The next year I was given two seats next to each other.

How likely is it to add additional seats in the future? It all depends on how good we are. How long have you been on the waiting list? Once they start winning...that waiting list will just continue to grow and no one will be moving. Before this year, it had been 4 years since I had been offered a seat upgrade because of the high renewals.

Regarding how the process works...they give you a link to an interactive map of Staples, you will see all the seats available in all price ranges. Good Luck!!

Thanks that's helpful. I don't mind spending a bit extra. I figure I'll have to sell most tickets anyway.

We're you able to sell piggy backed seats? My appointment isn't till Wednesday so I'm afraid that will be my only option.

So is there any benefit in going to staples versus using the interactive map?

Mine were not really piggy back, they were about 4-5 seats apart and one row diff. But yes, I was still able to sell them. But then again...my first year was Kobe, Shaq, Payton and Malone, so it was not had to sell. This year...well....good luck! LOL. I had a tough time selling them last year, I couldn't give them away. Now, if Kobe is healthy the entire season, you might be okay.

Going to Staples?? STH were not given that option. We only had the online (interactive map) option. If you've been to staples before you have an idea of where the seat locations are. I dont think you need to go to Staples.

Oh good. Save a me a long trip. Are there usually more expensive seats left over since people might not move up? (Ie 200 section)

Lakers averaged 18,828 in attendance during 2013-14 at home games.

Kobe Home Games: 18,997 each, so not much of a difference (if they calculate that by actual attendance, as opposed to sold seats).

As of about three or four weeks ago when I got my chance to upgrade, there were lots of seats available in the 200's and the 100's if you have the cash to roll like that. I've had my seats for ten years this season, and I've finally moved down, instead of laterally. Went from 331 on the aisle at the top of the section, to the near center court side of 332 on the aisle in row 6. I'm pretty excited to finally get an upgrade worth taking. I'd like to thank the Lakers for sucking so bad last year, so that so many people didn't renew.

I hope you have good luck finding what you're looking for!

I almost prefer the 300s to the 200s. If you wanted, you could have moved from the 300s to 100s? Assuming availability and cash flow of course

You can pretty much buy a seat wherever the chart lets you select. If it's open, it's yours.

I'm in section 206. Figured I'd be selling most games based on my schedule so just splurged a bit more on it.

I'll probably PM you about what you do with tickets you can't use

I also attended the select a seat event. I will be in sect 301, it's exciting to finally become a sth. I actually couldn't believe how many avail seats there were. While my 2 seats are center of nosebleed they are unfortunately piggy back. I felt as though its a better view than behind the basket which were the only other avail options.

What was your appointment time? Mine was 8 and there were a good amount of seats left. Less in the 300 section it appeared

My appointment time was 6:30-7pm although I arrived early at 6pm and was able to begin my selection ahead of appt time. I saw plenty of 300 level side by side pairs although none were central. There were plenty of 200 lvl seats which I was tempted by. Ultimately I felt those were out of my price range :( I'm hoping sooner rather than later I'll be able to have side by side seats in the same section.

Yeah, mine was at 8. That's about the time there was a run on the 200s. My rep said they'd probably be there till 1 am cause they were backed up. Definitely curious what seats were left by nights end

My bro and I finally got the call to select our seats as well (6 years on the waiting list)! Our appointment was at 8, and that's about the time we got to go! We were looking at the 200s, but I felt it was too rich for my blood. So we went with our original plan, to get as close to center seats as possible in the 300s. We got section 302, and side by side seats. The only thing is that it's row 15, so our backs are literally against the wall! Hopefully we can move up a few rows in the next few years or so! The whole process was pretty incredible! We're both so excited because it's been a life long dream of mine (as I'm sure it is with most here) of being a LAL STH!

I would have thought with the aging Kobe, and the dismal supporting cast, it would be much easier to get season tickets to the Lakers these day, no? Can one actually get tickets in the 100's for season tickets, if they have the money, or are they not even available?

Easier this year than in previous years. I purchased tickets in the 200s but there were tickets in the 100s available. None of which were together and with a mid court view. There were some singles there though

I got 2 tickets in the 100s in the corner...plenty of seats in the 100s at the ends or corners. First time STH. Figure once they get good I'm not going to be able to move much so might as well take it while you can

Are suites available to purchase as season tickets? Are those on a "wait list" as well, or could you potentially get one right now, with a center court view assuming you had the money to burn.
