As long as Ollie brings Napier with him, I'm on board.

I could see SA picking him up late in the first and turning him into another stud rotation player.

Well, that gives me the shivers. That would be my worst nightmare. One older mock draft in fact has the Spurs taking Shabazz in the late first round. Napier would be THE perfect understudy to Parker and would provide us with many nightmares for years to come. He's a much better defender than Tony and has more range. I don't even want to think about that scenario.

His game is so dynamic. So skilled, and such a clutch performer. I think the kid should be a lottery pick, and he might be close to that come draft day. Best PG in the country. We could certainly use him going forward.

And so could the Spurs. Ughhhh.

Another Ollie connection: Durant. Durant reportedly loves him.

I know that was a typo, but my brain auto corrects it without the M as opposed to without the first C. :man10:

It's been stated several times that no team was willing to give up a pick for Pau unless we were taking on long term salary. I'll definitely take the cap space over the late 1st. But I agree with the posters saying Napier looks like he's going to be a steal in the late 1st round.

I would take a chance on Ollie in a second, because his players love him, and he does something I forgot coaches can even do, make adjustments in game. That said, if I were Ollie I'd stay far away from the Lakers. He's got the perfect job right now, he won a title at his school in his first try. Coach of the Lakers is a job, if he does poorly it's a 2 or 3 year job, if he does well it's what, 5 or 6? UCONN is a career, that's a job you can have for decades if you do well enough, if he asked me I'd tell him to stay where he's at and have a nice, long career there. If it doesn't last that long at UCONN though, THEN he can go for the NBA, but I wouldn't give up that job so soon to try out the NBA first.

Yeah, living here sure, and probably the money, but not dealing with the media, the fans, and being blamed entirely if we continue to suck. Why go through all that when he can be a god at UCONN? Come to the NBA later if and when UCONN goes through a slump.

^ This is why I don't think there is any chance at all that he leaves UCONN for the NBA let alone the Lakers.

Wrong timing...maybe in 3-4 years from now, but right now, it's not happening.

Yeah. Pete Carroll was a god at USC. Granted he may have bolted because of the looming sanctions. But some people are always looking to see if they can achieve more.

i dont know why a college coach would go to the lakers specifically when job security is incredibly low

hoiberg just signed a 20 mil/10 yr contract for iowa st.

sometimes it's just better to be king of a small town

there's a time to take calculated risks in your career, and for kevin ollie, now is not one of them. the nba isn't out of the question, but now isn't the right time.
