What will the significant guarantee be?

And why are we giving guys like Sacre and Harris multiple year deals and turning down other FA's because we didn't want to give multiple year deals?

You got to be kidding me. You got both Sasha and Odom wanting to come back and you sign a guy that will not see 1 second on the court? I checked in on every game during the summer league and didn't even see anything from him. The only person was Landry.

wtf :bang:

I don't get it honestly, I didn't see a ton of potential there for an NBA role player. I didn't see him as any better than an Ebanks for example. Why dump one and sign a new version, or why not wait to see what he shows in training camp first? They're both 28 already, but I still liked Hudson and Landry better. If Harris is playing the 4 our PF rotation is a joke with Hill, Kelly and Harris.

Little bit of info. Gonzaga coach Mark Few's contract ends in 2015.

Same time Mike D'Antoni's contract runs out.

Coincidence?

I think he's a good coach, might be an interesting name to look to the future for, we eventually need to find a more permanent coach and that's not Phil. The only cool part of this story to me is that Harris and Sacre were teammates, must be cool for them to be Lakers together. Having had a few more minutes to let the news sink in though, I will choose to trust the front office, maybe they saw more potential in practices and stuff that we didn't see in the summer league games. If he's here all season, I have to hope he can contribute.

Does this signing mean we go from borderline playoff team to contenders?

Adam Morrison went to Gonzaga.

Adam Morrison will be 30 in 2015.

Adam Morrison won 2 rings.

30 is 2x15

Somebody needs to explain a TWO YEAR deal for Harris. Perhaps the second year is a team option? Otherwise, this is completely befuddling.

I think it's only guaranteed for the first year - at least that's what I'm reading so far.

The bigger concern for Harris on the perimeter is his shot-creating ability, as it's still an adventure any time he has to put the ball on the floor and meets resistance. While capable of facing up and attacking opposing big men in a straight line from 17 feet, Harris is not someone who can be expected to do much ball-handling in the half-court outside of these short forays. He shows a high and loose dribble, and struggles to change directions with it if he encounters a defender, which makes him relatively ineffective when he tries to do anything too fancy off the bounce.

Can face up from 17 out, but don't expect him to put the ball on the floor...

On the defensive side of the court Harris has many questions on which forward position he will be able to adequately defend. While Harris' body is developed and physically mature, he is somewhat undersized to play the power forward position at the next level. He also struggles to move his feet on the perimeter even for a power forward, regularly over-extending himself on the perimeter and getting caught defending with his hands because of that. While he seems to have lost some of the weight that plagued him earlier in his college career, his awareness and focus level haven't improved much at all, which makes him a regular target for opposing coaches to pick at in pick and roll situations.

...and he can't play D. Seems like a perfect fit to me...

Yep, lets give him a 2 year deal with "significant" guaranteed coin....makes cents!

It's not like I am necessarily against signing him, it's just the Lakers could have invited him to camp just to make sure it was worth it. The kid loves the Lakers, maybe he was thinking about going back to Germany to play ball and the FO took a gamble to prevent it. I'm not sure.

Don't know anything about the kid other than what has been posted here.. Really disappointed that we didn't go after TT or LO instead. Especially TT, because our shotblocking is absolutely atrocious.. Hopefully whatever they see in this kid ends up being real.

Not a fan of handing out contracts before camp. Let them fight for the spots and earn it. You'll have players playing harder if they don't think the spots are already locked up and might find a better value. What happens if they find better value now (assuming they use the other spot for a vet)? Jumping the gun a bit on someone I don't think was worth jumping the gun over. All I can see is if he started garnering a lot of interest from other teams (doubtful) and we didn't want to lose out on keeping him.

I believe.

He showed good heart and some good signs in summer league. I think he can be a Amundson at least. Guess this means no more Lamar though.
