The outcomes of tonight's Denver & Dallas games will determine our first round opponent.

Western Conference seeds 6 and 7
The Nuggets (37-28) are currently a game ahead of the Mavericks (36-29) for the No. 6 seed in the West, but the Mavs hold the tie-breaker, thanks to a 3-1 head-to-head advantage. The No. 6 seed will face the Lakers in the first round, while the No. 7 seed will face the Thunder. So …

Nuggets are the No. 6 seed if…
Denver beats Minnesota (H)
OR
Atlanta (H) beats Dallas

Mavericks are the No. 6 seed if…
Minnesota beats Denver
AND
Dallas beats Atlanta

Denver has the easier game against Minnesota so it's highly likely we'll face them in the first round.

I am not sure who is a better matchup for the Lakers. I am thinking the Mavs -- no Barea, no Chandler. It is really stop Dirk and Terry, that's it.

Denver has a ton of hustle players. So if the Lakers are lazy they will get beat. Karl will try to run on every Kobe and Gasol miss. Aflalo, Chandler, and Galo can make it hard on Kobe.

The Nuggs have been open about "wanting the Lakers" in round one -- saying the last couple of days that they are fighting hard for the 6th seed and think they can surprise everyone and beat the lakers.

I don't mind if we struggle in the playoffs I just hope we give the other team a good fight. Teams breezing through the playoffs doesn't mean they'll just trot into a championship. I think we need a little "test" to make us stronger. I have faith in this team they proved they can ball without Kobe and Kobe just needs to shoot well and be somewhat healthy. It's just the cohesiveness I'm worried about.

Chandler's injured.

Afflalo is a great defender, but Galo has nothing to do against Kobe.

I figured this could use a bump with the new season under way.

Lakers are now tied for last place in the West with the Jazz and Kings. Will we improve with MB now gone? :man1:

Yes, we will. We won't be amazing right away, but we should improve.

As poorly as the Lakers have played they're only 3.5 games behind San Antonio for first place in the West. With a win later today and a win over the Spurs on Tuesday night they'd only be two games back.

^ The season is still very young so there's a lot of time for us to get back to the top. Lets just hope our coach situation gets solved quickly so the players can begin that new chapter.

We're currently 12th in the West, 2.5 games back from the 8th seed. I don't see us missing the playoffs by any means, but we really do need to win tonight in Washington.

And only one game out of the 8th seed.

Christmas day is important for so many reasons.

It's not the best situation, but right now, every game is very important.

After the Knicks we play against Denver and Portland, both key games for the standings right now.

We're 13-14, Portland 13-13 and Denver 15-13.

January will be key ... we'll probably know if we are either still in the 5th seed race or will just battle for the last couple of playoffs spots by the end of that month

I don't mind Lakers entering the playoffs as an 8th seed. They'll be the first 8th seed nba team to win it all.

^We can hope by then that Howard's back is healthy. Same for Nash. Also whatever adjustments and chemistry on both sides of the ball are established.

After today's games, the bottom half of the western conference looks like this:

5. Warriors 18-10
6. Rockets 15-12
7. T'wolves 13-12
8. Nuggets 15-14
----------------------------
9. Jazz 15-14
10. LAKERS 14-14
11. Blazers 13-13
12. Mavs 12-16

Tomorrow's game at Denver is a big game. If we can manage to get a win we knock Denver out of the top 8 but I think the Jazz have the tiebreaker on us since they beat us in our match up earlier this season(if memory serves me right here I'm not 100% on that).

It's time to right this ship and make up the ground we gave away due to the rough start to the season.

Also, Golden State plays at Utah tomorrow. If we can get a W tomorrow we gain ground on whoever loses in that match up.

I really want to catch the Floppers, but it seems unlikely.

But I wouldn't mind if the Floppers won the division title but we won the Chip. :man9:
