do you guys remember the last laker team before Shaq arrived?

Divac
Campbell
Ceballos
Jones
VanExel

Peeler and Lynch off the bench

then in March

Magic Johnson came back

we lost to the Rockets in the playoffs

how do you guys think it wouldve panned out had Magic stayed retired?

not messing with the chemistry

Well, we would have given the rockets a run w/o Magic, but still I think it would have been tough to beat them. Hakeem was in his prime and that was the year they proved "Don't ever doubt the heart of a champion." At least we lost to the eventual NBA champs.

I remember that game very well. It was a good game till the Bulls moed us down. That 72-10 Bulls team was amazing I was apart of all of that stuff here in Chicago. The atmosphere was amazing. I loved MJ back then just as much as I loved Magic. Good stuff

If we had met Jordan's Bulls in the finals in 97 or 98 when Shaq was here, we would've won. Even though we couldn't beat Utah, the matchups were good against those Bulls and I think we beat them during the regular season those years. Remember when Rodman picked a fight with Shaq and Pippen and Jordan tackled him to save him from Shaq's wrath and right fist? Man that was great!

I remember that game, Jordan was furious with Rodman for even trying such a stupid thing, he was yelling at him like he was a little kid who did something wrong, it was funny.

I was just talking to my brother about that yesterday. I told him that the Lakers back in 98 would have beat the bulls. Or gave them a run for their money. Because they were faster and younger Bulls were a little older. We would split with the Bulls every year win one on our floor and they win on their court. Would have been nice to see a young Kobe in the finals against MJ. I would have loved it.

well spillting a season series with the Bulls is one thing, but beating them in a 7 game series is a whole 'nother thing.

it wouldve been fun for a little bit but ultimately Michael and Scottie were players 1 and 2 at the time (96-97 at least) and phil jackson knew how to get the rest of the team involved

Lakers wouldve lost in 6

I agree echo I said the same to my brother yesterday Phil knew and still knows how to pick teams apart once he gets the feel of things. Would have been fun to watch. Damn Utah!

But...the 91 Lakers would have beat the Bulls for sure had Byron Scott and James Worthy been healthy. That's like asking the Bulls to play without Scottie and Horace. The Lakers should have one more championship than they do. Magic was so amazing in that series. Unfortunately, our starting lineup for the last 3 games was:

Magic
Tony Smith
Terry Teagle
Sam Perkins
Vlade Divac

vs.

John Paxson
MJ
Scottie
Horace Grant
Bill Cartwright

Yeah, we needed B.Scott and Big Game James.
