I'd like to see Matt Barnes play with Nash

Postby Sirron on Sat Jul 07, 2012 10:35 am

We saw how he meshed on the open floor with Sessions. Makes me wonder how he'd do with Nash. Surprised we haven't heard much about Barnes yet. Seems like a solid complimentary piece for a contender.

I think the Lakers are planning for Ebanks to replace Barnes next season.

I can't blame him. Ebanks has the most potential out of all of our 2nd rounders the past few years.

Barnes wont even be on the floor when Nash is on the floor so bringing him back just for Nash is moot.

Barnes is a goner. Ebanks is younger, cheaper, and better.

Barnes would benefit a lot from the Nash effect, but I'd rather have Grant Hill in that slot.
Vitti uttered three words that surely applies to how Bryant made two free throws on one leg, walked off the court on his own and processed his rehabilitation plan amid the pain, frustration and tears.

“That’s really cool.”

This.

And on the subject of backups, unless Ron plays like he did in the playoffs, he might (should) lose his starting job to Grant Hill.

Ebanks is the new Barnes. Their surnames share 5 letters out of 6, so they are pretty close IMO: BArNES, EBANkS. See? Same thing, really. :man12:

If the Lakers decide to amnesty World Peace, Barnes will be back.

No it's time for us to move on from him. We have three options to go with two other options there that we could go with that would be better (for different reasons): Ebanks and Hill.

There's no way the Lakers would amnesty World Peace. He may get traded however.

Why would be Barnes back if we amnesty MWP, considering that MWP infinitely performed better than Barnes in the Playoffs?

perenniel choker in the post-season for us.

I have learned my lesson. He sucks. He was missing WIDE open shots....

nobody in the world is going to change this, including Nash.

Barnes had an amazing regular season and was hurt in the playoffs. I'd still take him over Ebanks for the back-up 3 spot although I'd prefer we got someone much better than both of them.

I'd take Barnes over Ebanks too. Next year. Not 3 years from now. LA Brass will take the lower contract though.

I see where OP is getting at, but Barnes can't stay healthy. It seems like he works hard in the offseason, sharpens his game for the first 2-3 months of the season. But he always suffers an injury mid-season that puts him out of form - just in time for the past 2 years playoffs.

It was a nice experiment but we have MWP and Ebanks is coming along.
There are two teams that play in the Staples Center:
the LA Lakers and NBA Clippers.

Like TIME said, I'd rather see Grant Hill play next to Nash. Wish Barnes the best, if we didn't have MWP, Ebanks, and Hill (possibly) and if we weren't trying to save where we could, then sure.

I agree with the OP. I would take Barnes back. I would take him over Grant Hill, too. Grant is 40 years old and his back failed him at the end of the season. Barnes is younger, faster, and solid in the running game. He is also one of the few guys on our team that constantly moves and cuts. Nash would probably hit him with some good passes off of the cuts that Barnes does.

Let's say Hill decides to retire and Ebanks gets a better offer elsewhere; are you guys saying you'd rather have Eyenga as our back-up 3 instead of taking back Barnes for the minimum?
