Longest off-season ever...

Does anyone else here feel the same? I mean MY GOSH! The anticipation!
The Lakers are re-loaded and it is taking forever almost feels like a dream sometimes still because we have yet to see them in action...Dwight, Nash, Jamison, Meeks as our newcomers and how will they mesh with Kobe/Pau? How good will Metta be and is he really in the best shape of his life? Will Nash resurrect Pau & make Kobe's job that much easier? Will the Nash/Dwight pick n roll be as beastly as we all imagine? How much will our bench contribute, especially Jamison/Meeks? Will the Princeton offense work? Will Kobe adjust? So many questions and the season cannot come quick enough!

It is especially taking a bit longer because once again we were out since may instead of June

But boy will it be worth it...

It's definitely one of the most anticipated seasons ever, but luckily preseason games aren't too far ahead. Although, it won't matter unless TWC comes to an agreement with other cable providers.

I forgot about that terrible lockout, everyday maybe a deal was close and then sides are too far apart...terrible times.

That's very true, at least now we have a date as to when the season is going to begin.

This actually seems like a really fast offseason to me. Preseason is just 3 weeks away.

I haven't been looking forward to training camp like this in a while.

Same for me. The whole Nash + Howard thing consumed what would have been a long wait.

Yeah this isn't bad at all with so much good to look forward to. What's hard and seemed long is summers like 2005 when there was little to look forward to but Kobe's individual performances

hockey fan here, basketball season is nearly upon us.

September is dead in terms of news ... as for the training camp/preseason , you get excited for Media Day and the 1st couple of preseason games then it becomes boring until the real season start ...

In a perfect world , a NBA season should be from mid-September to mid-June ... no back to back games, more rest = better quality of play ... who cares if it interferes with others sports schedules

Last season's lockout didn't bother me. I wasn't excited going into the season and especially after we didn't get Paul and lost Lamar. I could sense disaster before they even played Game 1.

The anticipation is also killing me, I mean I couldn't care less about football right now I just need some Lakers basketball. I haven't been this excited for a season to start since the summer of 08

The only thing that makes this season feel longer for me is the uncertainty of whether I'm going to be able to see any games. From the start I was bummed about the Time Warner thing because it meant the end of free viewing of games for a lot of LA fans who have been able to watch on KCAL over the years. But of course it's a double edged sword and we all knew that the Buss family needed that deal financially. It's a boon but it's a curse as well. Without it I don't think we'd see Gasol on this roster and maybe not even Nash (they didn't want to use that TPE). It has given them a real boost for sure. So it's good and it's bad. Hopefully at least TWC will come to terms with the other cable stations so that it's not a monopoly on Laker games. I still feel bad for so many viewers who don't have cable. In the meantime if us non-TWC subscribers can't watch pre-season it really will seem even longer as that's a whole month of Lakers viewership we'll miss.

Not really. I'm a huge Cowboys fan as well (As big a Cowboys fan as a Lakers fan) so obviously it's a very exciting time for me right now. I'm still excited for the Lakers, but I probably won't get that into it till the Cowboys season is over in February.
