What happened to the thread of Kobe's place among the top 30? Regular season and playoffs. I thought it was this one, but not on page 1.

Thought I ought to mention that Alex English was a beast when it came to scoring, averaging at least 25ppg from age 28 to age 35. I bring him up as everyone knows Jordan, Karl Malone and Dominique Wilkins, but English is lesser known than the others. Probably because his game wasn't flashy like the others. BTW, he's the answer to the trivia question: who scored the most points during the decade of the 80's?
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Rankings during season in which player turned 34:
1605 points, 14th place
332 assists, 36th place
321 rebounds, 92nd place

If Kobe averages just 20 ppg for the rest of the season, he'll finish third, behind Jordan and Malone. In order to beat Malone, he'd have to average 25.5 for the rest of the season. To catch Jordan, he'd have to average 32.7 (!)

It's great you put this thread together...so first of all thank you for that, its always interesting to see the stats people don't talk about.

But like many have said already...of course Kobe is going to have less points after 30 because of the mileage he has already put on. Due to this mileage, he will ultimately play less years after 30 then these others players had theoretically. This isn't in defense of Kobe...I'm just stating what might turn out when its all said and done.

Thanks again. :jam2:

the man is sick
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

Yeah Kobe can possibly catch a lot of these if the season is over, especially if we make the post season.

Kobe needs 50 points to move into third place. If he does that, only Jordan and Malone would be above him for the season.

He can get it in two games if he wants to... Does Kobe even know he's climbing lists?
