LQOTD: Do we have a Doberman?

We have two former DPOYs on the roster in Metta World Peace and Dwight Howard. Kobe has numerous First Team All-D appointments. Recently Darious Morris has been used in a defense-first role against opposing Guards. Devin Ebanks has been used in the past (with some success) to check big scorers like Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Durant.

Today's Laker Question of the Day is this: are any of our current players up to the task of being a successful perimeter defender on a nightly basis? If so, who is it? If not, who comes the closest?

No, we don't. But to be fair, I don't think any single perimeter defender can lock any decent opposing player down with consistency.

Defending perimeter players take a team effort and can be done without players that are supreme individual defenders.

honestly, i'd like to see ebanks get some run at this point.

for instance, we could have used his length against cp3 last night while having kobe playing caron, and nash on green.

right now, we're too easy to guard on offense because guys don't cut. ebanks can help alleviate some of that pressure.

also, with the way mwp is shooting it recently, ebanks couldn't do any worse.

Nope. We need a Bradley, Shumpert, Tony Allen type player and we don't have one on this roster. Kobe can successfully do it for stretches but due to mileage on his body and the energy he exerts on the offensive end, he can't do it for long periods of time.

There's only a handful of doberman's in the league.
