LQOTD: Turning Point?

LQOTD: Turning Point?

This question is being asked all over the place in popular media: was the 4th Quarter of LA/SAS a turning point for the Lakers?

No. A turning point would be a 48 minute game of consistent defense with the core group healthy.

I really hope so. Otherwise this season is cooked.

This team needs more than a turning point.

We've been playing like a disjointed team the entire season.

First with Mike Brown's horrible coaching. Then his firing. Steve Nash getting injured. MDA hiring. MDA trying to find the right rotations. Now Dwight and Hill out?

We're missing chemistry and communication. Goes a long ways for 1. Defense 2. Turnovers - two of our biggest problems this year.

not to me, turning point is seeing consistent play on both side of the court every quarter, doesn't have to be entire quarter but at least 6-8 mins worth every qtr.

No, we lost the game, I have no idea why Magic even said that. A turning point would be if Dwight and Hill came back and we traded Pau for pieces we desperately need and we started seeing full games of good defense.

I thought it was Christmas Day.

I'm not going to say anything is a turning point anymore because I'd like to not be disappointed.

No. A turning point would be to get our guys healthy and to have a win streak with consistent effort on both sides of the court.

Yeah, turning point should have been around Steve Nash's return.

Now is too late for a "turning point"....and it's hard to say we hit one without us netting 5+ wins in a row.
We just need to win. Liked what I saw last night but it eats me that we can't do it for 48 minutes.

All we can say now is that Dwight/Pau/Hill coming back is the next turning point. But for it to actually be a turning point, we need to see the "turn" in direction of this team.......i.e the number in the win column.

No. That feels more like grasping at straws to find something positive than anything else. I don't get what was so different in that SAS game than any other game?

We played poor defense, couldn't close and lost. A turning point would be when we play good defense, close out a game in strong fashion and win.

I'll say its incomplete. If we win 3 of the home games we play against scrub teams then i'll calll it a turaround, i believe we play Milwaukee, Cleveland and Toronto

Depends on how we win them. Everyone was calling the 5 game winning streak a positive sign but I saw right through it.

I mean, a one point win at home against the second worst team in the league that at the time was on an 11 game losing streak? We looked horrible in most of those games and it was clear a regression was coming.

Nah

I thought we had figured it out after the comeback against GSW, then the Knicks, and then Portland, thinking Nash was all we needed to put it together. Never going to fall for that again

They need to win 7-8 in a row before I will ever think they have hit the turning point

Not until we're above .500 and in the playoff picture. Right now defense is still way too bad what with wide open corner threes and breakdowns in the paint.

Could be, but we'll see.

Tommorow night's game against Oklahoma City is HUGE.

Win that game and we could go on a long winning streak.

I don't really know if there's such a thing as a true "turning point" other than a star player coming back or a blockbuster trade.

We've been consistently horrible on defense. Keep doing what you're doing, and you're gonna keep getting what you're getting. :bang:
