Malone will wear Magic's #32

Malone will wear Magic's #32

I personally don't agree with that decision. It was nice of Magic to offer it but I think Karl chould choose another number. C'mon, it's the Magic Man's #!

If Shaq didn't get #32, why did Magic give it to Karl...I guess he did it to make sure Karl did not change his mind and back out...

Yea, I know how you feel! It's just not right to have someone other than Magic wear it. All I know is they better never retire Malone's name on the back of that jersey along with Magic's... that would be really messed up!

heres the link: http://www.latimes.com/sports/basketbal ... nba-lakers

Johnson has given Malone permission to wear the uniform, one of eight Los Angeles Laker jerseys that hangs on the wall at Staples Center. Malone wore No. 32 for 18 seasons in Utah, giving it up only in All-Star games, where five times he was a Western Conference teammate of Johnson's.

First of all I would like to say that I personally do not like Karl Malone. We really didn't need him, after getting GP. But being that he came cheap and I would rather him be with us than in San Antonio. It will be hard, but I'll get used to it and will eventually embrace Karl as one of us, when we win our title back. Until then you are under my microscope, until the title comes home. Thats 1 thing. However Him wearing the number 32 is another. AS mentioned earlier Shaq didn't even wear the #32. What right does Karl have wearing Magics number. You would think that Karl would be gracious enough, to say thanks, but no thanks to magic and choose something that maybe equals 5 like 23 or 50. But not Karl, he wants to gravy train a title with us and wear #32. Karl you and Stockton could never earn your own title and even if you were a champion you still would not be deserving of the sacred #32 in LA gear. Here we are about to basically hand you a title. you haven't even signed yet, and the first thing you do is to step on our toes by wearing Magics number. Karl we are only going to like you b/c your in purple and gold, otherwise we don't like you and never have. The thought of you breaking the all time scoring record as a Laker in #32, is kinda sickening, to say the least. In the past you have made such comments about playing with magic, b/c he had the HIV thing, the whinning in the allstar game, about Kobe not passing you the ball. Whine whine whine. All I know is and have stated in other topics. We know how you are, and when Kobe goes into his ball hoggin stages( which pisses us all off as Laker fans, but we live with it, b/c we have championships to back it up) and your not getting the touches you used to get. You better not go to the media with your whining. KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT, and think RING. Your job is to make your 15 foot jumper when open, pass the ball within the triangle and help Shaq rebound. As far as I am concerned you have gotten enough from us, an almost automatc ring and Magics number 32 too. Damn it You better give US something back in return. And soon!!!!

Reddy and I were listenin to the Ticket, and it was reported that Magic said it was alright if Malone wears his number 32!!! Can u believe that?? But then the broadcasters went on to say that he shouldnt take the number cuz then Malone would have expectations to live up to.

I agree with Malone wearing #32. I think this way for two reasons.

1. If the person who retired the jersey (Magic) sais it is ok, why should anyone else think differently?

2. For Malone to take a 17 million dollar paycut to win, give him the f'n jersey, how much does that cost? Magic knows what's up, he knows we want to win...

I agree with Lakers Dynasty 2000

It should only bother MAGIC JOHNSON... but since MAGIC OFFERED and is WILLING to offer his NUMBER 32 to MALONE everybody should just accept that.... we have NO SAY in this matter...

this topic should be closed.. ..we don't need any controversy considering this matter.... we don't need SHAQ to start questioning things... so we should all just drop it... because the MOST IMPORTANT thing is right now is MALONE WILL BE ON OUR SIDE... HE WILL BE BATTLING ALONGSIDE KOBE AND SHAQ... HE WILL BE BLEEDING WITH THEM and THATS ALL THAT MATTERS!!!! who GIVES A "[Swearing is not permitted at Clublakers. You must edit this post prior to submitting.]" what JERSEY he wears as long as we end up with the RING!!!!

personally... I PREFER NUMBER 69... but thats just me... LOL

if I or we should i say were to live by the stance of having no say in the matter. there would be no reason to even make an opinion in this forum. we have to accept it #1_Kobe_fan. Of course we have no say in not a damn thing within the organization. From who we sign , trade or how much the team pays a player and the like. If magic wants to give is number up thats fine with me, its about malone accepting it, like he has ever paid his dues with us and dropping it is not what this forum is about. this whole forum is about opinion. And believe me when I say this number thing has no controversy value to it at this point, between us. Its the casual laker fan, that is not die hards like us that will make the big beef about it once he is seen in the number 32. Thats my take on the issue and is only an opinion, and if others choose to disagree with it, I am cool with that!!!

I like BDG's idea of #31 or #35.

So, when we retire Karl's number, we have this continuous flow of jersey number up in Staples.

32: Magic Johnson
33: Kareem Abdul Jabbar
34: Shaquille Oneal
35: Karl Malone

35 it is!!!!!!

We aren't gonna be retiring Karl's number, I guarantee that. Especially if he uses Magic's.

I think we should start with number 9... you know right after KOBE's number 8..... then we can go... 9-19.... 20 for Payton... 21 for Cooper 22-30... etc.etc... LOL...

HAHAHA! I see him as a future NBA Great. I think it's going to be great seeing his name announced as one of the NBA's 100 Greatest Players in 40 sumthin years or so...

Too bad it doesn't look like we'll pick up his contract.

Why is Cooper's #21 not retired!? Hell, he's the only person I know with multiple NBA and WNBA rings!!

Ironically, his greatest shot came against the Jazz.
Buckle up! This off season is going to be some ride...
