Mamba Lineup

Mamba Lineup

Postby adamkingadam on Tue Nov 19, 2013 2:49 pm

What is everyone's thoughts on the starting 5 when the Mamba returns? I can see Kobe huddling with Magic Johnson during his rehab on what he needs to do to take on the Magic Role for the final run in the Mamba's championship run.

PG - Bryant
SG- Blake
SF- Johnson
PF - Jordan Hill
C - Gasol

Bench Mob
Meeks
Farmar
Swaggy P
Xavier
Caveman

With a productive Kobe, this is a team that can sneak up on teams and do some damage. Jordan Hill is emerging and if he can keep this up will be a solid compliment to Kobe. With the existence of three point shooters, pick and roll with hill and a passing big man to dish out open shots I think we can surprise a lot of doubters! Oh and if Odom is truly motivated, I would like to see the Mamba call him up and bring him back to the fold. Good length off the bench with a low risk/high reward.

Mostly I am just getting excited to see Kobe back on the court! Go Lakers!

Blake 30/Farmar 18
Kobe 26/Meeks 18/Henry 4
Johnson 20/young 24/Henry 4
Hill 30/Williams 10/Johnson 8
Pau 26/kaman 22

When meeks comes down to earth and when young struggles, Henry gets more minutes.

I like this but I think Kobe will be more in the 36 Minute range. Maybe not right way but Kobe is not playing less than 30 minutes a game.

Give Farmar some more time too and I'm in like Flynn.

Blake/Farmar
Meeks/Henry
Kobe/Young
Hill/Wesley/Williams
Pau/Kaman

or I would also be cool with this to improve our defense and I think Wesley would play better with Kobe with all the cutting to the basket plays he is able to do

Blake/Farmar
Kobe/Meeks/Henry
Johnson/Young
Hill/Williams
Pau/Kaman

This...Given the roster, this is probably what I would do; I'm of the opinion that Kobe at least needs 3-4 other athletic players at their position. Pau doesn't qualify and neither does Blake; although, Blake has been doing a great job play PG, he's not the fastest nor most athletic.

I'd do a lot of mixing and matching with Kobe with Henry/Young playing the 3, Farmar playing the 1, Hill at the 5...Makes more sense to do this at this stage In Kobe's career, IMO

When Kobe and even nash comes back, sadly there will be the odd-guys out. It will most likely be Williams and Henry. Both have been soooo inconsistent.

I course I would rather not have Nash back but when that time comes I hope you are right with the odd guys those. Those two players have clearly been the most inconsistent.

wait, where is Young?

Pau (28)/Kaman (20)
Hill (30)/ Wes (14)/ Shawne (4)
Wes (14)/ Young (24)/ X (10)
Kobe (28)/ Meeks (18)/ X (2)
Blake (28)/ Farmar (20)

starting Kobe and Meeks isn't a bad option:

Pau (28)/Kaman (20)
Hill (30)/ Wes (14)/ Shawne (4)
Kobe (24)/ X (12)/ Wes (12)
Meeks (22)/ Young (22)/ Kobe (4)
Blake (28)/ Farmar (20)

I prefer the first route though

This ! But sadly to say that I have a feeling that Mike D'Antoni gonna goes small and our future line-up by him would be :-

Blake - Meeks - Kobe - Hill - Gasol

Not saying Meeks doesn't deserve the starting spot as he played well but I like Wesley Johnson to start at the forward spot better, think he's a better fit with the starters.

As good as Meeks is playing I would hate to take him out of the starting lineup. There are many reasons Kobe is bulking up but i think he's doing it to play SF. I think he's going to take the Scottie Pippen route and be the ball handler from the SF position and initiate the offense. Here is my starting lineup......

PG: Blake
SG: Meeks
SF: Kobe
PF: Hill
C: Pau

Bench: Farmer, Young, Wes, Henry, Kaman

After a lot of thought this is the lineup I want:

Blake (25)/ Farmar (23)
Kobe (25)/ Meeks (15)/ Henry (8)
Johnson (10)/ Young (25)/Henry (8)
Hill (28)/ Johnson (15)/ Gasol (5)
Gasol (25)/Kaman (23)

Go small with Johnson at the 4, but push the ball up and down the floor like they like to do. Still start Johnson next to Kobe which helps keep Kobe off of a premiere offensive player. As Meeks fades which history shows he will you scale back his minutes and give more to Henry.

I put Johnson a lot at the 4 and I know most people don't like that, but I'd rather HE play than Shawne Williams, Ryan Kelly, or Elias Harris.

And most importantly no one but Pau plays 30 minutes and that can change easily by increasing Kaman's workload or having Hill or Johnson take on more responsibilities. It keeps minutes down and still runs a 10 deep team.

^^ I think Kobe will ramp up to 30-35 mpg once he gets into shape again. But no more 40mpg+ games.

I also think Kaman will be playing less in favor of Hill playing C and Williams playing PF.

I think MDA prefers Williams ability to stretch the floor over Kaman's inside game. Also, we're a little bit more versatile with Hill/Williams than with Kaman out there. I think we saw it with Detroit.

I'd rather not get into Williams on the court too often, but he can get in there for spells too.

My plan is more of an outline with some guys stepping in here or there and it's able to adjust to whichever player has the hot hand. In D'Antoni's offense that can be anybody on any given night.

X needs to play alongside Kobe. That's the only way he'll develop into a #2 option. He can't drive well without a star next to him to help open up the lanes for him.
