MDA's future rotations.

Duhon might play over Blake since he knows MDA's system from his time over in Phoenix. As for Blake I don't know if we can trade him alone and get anything worth keeping, maybe next year when he's an expiring contract.

Blake has seniority on this team right now, I'm not sure you can just bench him, but Meeks needs to be the backup 2, and I trust Duhon more under 'Antoni. I don't know if Blake can be traded for anything worthwhile, but he might have to be simply to avoid issues.

does blake really command that much cachet though? he strikes me as the guy who would just go along with what he's told to do. guess we'll have to see if he continue to "impress in practice."

Duhon. And he did it already for Mike, posting career numbers IIRC. 11/3/7 is really nice when you think about it. He's still very quick and has good court vision. Additionally he can hit the 3. When he wants to shoot, that is.

I think we'll see MWP, Gasol and Blake and potentially others moved by the deadline. The Lakers need shooters.

Since the Lakers committed to D'Antoni, they need to get him players asap because the Lakers core has a small window in which to win a championship.

No sense talking about rotations when we will have new players on the team shortly. :man9:

If they want players that fit they need to get Pietrus and West.

I agree with this fully. I just don't see this team making all the way. They need to make a few tweaks.

I wonder... would he prefer an athletic, but smaller guard like DJ Odom over Morris? Can he "mold" Morris into a 3-pt chucking SG?

But then, he would probably rotate Nash, Duhon and Blake at the 1 with garbage minutes for the youngsters. Except if they don't end up in the D-League. Where they should be, in my opinion.

Well, whether it were Phil, MDA, Sloan or any other good coach with the pressure to win it all this year, the rotations are most important for saving Kobe, Gasol, and Nash for the playoffs, and for preventing injuries.

So the guys that are total wastes of space need to go. Too much at stake this year.

MDA won't go to 12-15 on the bench most of the time, but know that Kobe, Nash, Artest, and Gasol will miss some time this year. And it is ok to rest them on occassion on back to backs and long road trips --like Pop and Doc do all the time.

Waive Sacre. Sign Yi out of his cheap contract in China (bet MDA could do wonders with him -- much more than he did even with Frye, esp. with his speed and passing abilities next to Dwight).

Waive Clark. Sign Pietrus.

Waive DJO and sign Raja.

Nash, Duhon, Blake, Morris
Kobe, Meeks, Bell
Artest, Pietrus, Ebanks
Gasol, Yi, Jamison
Howard, Hill

I'd be happy with a duhon Meeks backcourt as I think duhon has proved his worth and a shot and Meeks can shoot and is young so he should thrive under dantoni's system

Aside from the starters I expect Duhon, Meeks, Jamison, & Hill to get minutes.

I am still holding out hope that we can still pick up one of these more than capable bench players that are still without a team though.

You've got to be kidding, there's no way he doesn't play Jamison or Meeks.

These are the kind of lineups ( beside the usual starting 5 which I don't think we'll see together as many minutes as we used to ) you can expect from Antoni :

Nash- Meeks-Kobe-Tawn-D12 (or Pau)
Nash-Meeks-Kobe-Ron-Pau(or D12)
Nash-Meeks-Kobe-Pau-D12

I think Duhon will get the nod over Blake as the backup PG because he's better at running the PNR

Concerns I have :
- Hill , our best bench player , won't see many minutes , if any at all
- short rotations and too many minutes for our star players ... same as Brown
- Metta will see his minutes go down ( not that I'm not in favor of) , may not finish games ... which could lead to him being a team cancer and distraction ..

I won't be surprised to see trades at the deadline with Blake , Ebanks, Hill ... maybe Metta ( who would want him though , same with Blake) on the block...

Pau will be back on the trading block next summer regardless of the coaching situation ... him fitting Antoni system or not may speed up the process though

More Meeks.
Tawn at the 4 exclusively, that makes room for
Kobe at the 3 frequently.
Hill is the backup C.
MWP and Gasol minutes are cut

Better hope Meeks finds his stroke soon otherwise we will be stuck with Blake at the backup 2.

Front court pairings could be Howard/Tawn and Hill/Gasol . But Tawn can't play that many minutes so Gasol will still start and play with Howard a fair amount. But he should be primarily paired with Hill as part of the bench unit.

Me thinks they won't pull the trigger on trades for a couple of months. Have to give D'Antoni a chance to figure it out. It will help to wait until other teams can make trades with the Lakers. Cannot amnesty anyone until the summer, keep that in mind.

If Pau won't get traded any time soon, I wonder if Pringles has enough cajones to make Pau the 6th man off the bench and create spacing for the starters and the second unit? That is one clogged lane for D'Antoni to work with (Kobe, Dwight, Pau, and sometimes Metta in the post), and based on Coach Nick's breakdown, I don't want to see Pau camping out on the perimeter again.
