Metta World Peace practicing & game time decision for Lakers Tuesday. D'Antoni said odds are "90, 80% he plays"

I didn't think I'd be this happy about his return but we need all the help we can get even if he isn't the ideal fit for this team. Hopefully Nash is next

It's insane how quickly he was able to come back, hopefully him returning doesn't cause any damage to his knees.

Has he been hugging Lebron and Wade? Their roids seep through and heal him?

Heh yeah, not exactly thrilled about anything Ron will provide but at least he gives us another body and Kobe can ease up on the minutes.

I keep getting the feeling that THEY WANT TO FIGHT for the playoffs and to make the team and everything work out.......it just sucks, that they don't play so much like it or play the way we all expect and want them to, so it is good to have them back, but I WANT RESULTS and things from it to show that it is helpful for them to come back that fast.

Oh come on, he's the only guy night in, night out bringing it this year. He's gotten a lot of steals, has defensive effort that a lot our guys don't have, even if he's slow, and despite being offensively handicapped, has a knack of hitting timely buckets to swing momentum in our favor.

Talked to a physical therapist friend of mine.

She said there's two types of treatments for the injury he had and they depend upon the severity of the damage.

The first is if there is a complete (or very large) tear of the meniscus. If that's the case the patient cannot use their knee for quite some time.

The second is if they simply removed damaged parts that are in the knee. If that's the case recovery can be very fast since the only real damage left in the knee is just the incision.

I'm not saying for sure that Metta got the latter, but it would certainly appear that way.

Anyway, I'm glad he's back. Kobe now gets about an extra 10 minutes of rest a game.

That's just insane ... guess I was unlucky enough to have a larger tear. Can tell you the scar tissue from the operation left me sore for months.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

That'd be the issue with surgery. Ligaments and Tendons don't get much blood flow and thus not a lot of healing. Scar tissue takes a long time to form and can be frustrating/painful.

I was thinking that yesterday and recently, aside from having Nash gone, if everyone (including Dan) at the start even with Dwight slowed more than now, had resigned themselves to this style of play and place they're each seemingly in mentally now...... near the start of Dan's run as coach we would have a lot more wins. Including Kobe as well for sure. Excluding all the havoc the injuries have created.

Hell Yeah!! Welcome back Metta and good luck! :jam2: :jam2: :jam2:

I had the same injury and surgery 5 years ago. I was off of crutches that night, therapy for two weeks, and was walking like normal.

But not playing an NBA game. Damn he heals fast, is tougher that KB or both.

Wow, just wow.

At the very least he is a body that allows Kobe to not have to play 47 mins per game. At most he brings defense, scoring, and always consistent effort, I see no downside to him being back. That said I don't see how this is possible and I hope the Lakers are being careful and not rushing things or allowing players to dictate things in their desperation to make the playoffs.
