Liked that he told us to run the O through Pau for a stretch.
Still ridiculous that Kobe played 41 minutes....that's hardly rest
Agreed...but better than 41 seconds of rest...haha.
LJ: If not Phil, bringing in JVG would be the next best thing. I would love that guy spear-heading this Lakers core. Part of me wants the coaching change to happen before any roster changes. I would like us to commit to a direction and then make the necessary roster tweaks accordingly. It will be bittersweet for me to say bye to Pau cause I really admire the dude off the court. But it looks like Pau may be on the chopping block this summer, so what ever package we get for the guy, I just hope its catered to a coach and direction that I can believe in and get behind. MDA has me convinced that Kobe can't win his 6th playing for him....I really don't see it.
You need a coach that will let Kobe be the scoring assassin/closer that he is and just focus on being much more involved on the defensive end. Granted it was the lowly Hornets...but that game should be a microcosm of what the gameplan should be like. Get your other options involved and if the paint is our advantage then go there early and often. Meanwhile emphasize in nullifying one of their primary offensive targets. Then when the 4th comes and if the game is still in question, unleash the closer.
I'm interested to see if we can stick to THIS script going forward. If we do, then I can finally give MDA props for making the appropriate adjustments and if he remains as our coach, then I can only hope we bring in a guy like McMillan to shore up our defensive approach. But if MDA's stubbornness gets in the way again, I hope the FO realizes that yet another coaching mistake has occurred and they rectify it as priority number 1 before addressing the roster.
