Liked that he told us to run the O through Pau for a stretch.

Still ridiculous that Kobe played 41 minutes....that's hardly rest

Agreed...but better than 41 seconds of rest...haha.

LJ: If not Phil, bringing in JVG would be the next best thing. I would love that guy spear-heading this Lakers core. Part of me wants the coaching change to happen before any roster changes. I would like us to commit to a direction and then make the necessary roster tweaks accordingly. It will be bittersweet for me to say bye to Pau cause I really admire the dude off the court. But it looks like Pau may be on the chopping block this summer, so what ever package we get for the guy, I just hope its catered to a coach and direction that I can believe in and get behind. MDA has me convinced that Kobe can't win his 6th playing for him....I really don't see it.

You need a coach that will let Kobe be the scoring assassin/closer that he is and just focus on being much more involved on the defensive end. Granted it was the lowly Hornets...but that game should be a microcosm of what the gameplan should be like. Get your other options involved and if the paint is our advantage then go there early and often. Meanwhile emphasize in nullifying one of their primary offensive targets. Then when the 4th comes and if the game is still in question, unleash the closer.

I'm interested to see if we can stick to THIS script going forward. If we do, then I can finally give MDA props for making the appropriate adjustments and if he remains as our coach, then I can only hope we bring in a guy like McMillan to shore up our defensive approach. But if MDA's stubbornness gets in the way again, I hope the FO realizes that yet another coaching mistake has occurred and they rectify it as priority number 1 before addressing the roster.

That's why when you're the coach you tell guys when to rest, you don't let them tell you.

Back to back game with a 8 man rotation, lazy coaching. :disagree:

I'll be the first to admit I was okay with this hire. You can even go back the first few pages to confirm.

But the way he ran this team to the ground... AND NOW KOBE WITH A POSSIBLE TORN ACHILLES...

BEGONE!!!! :man2:

Hope you have your bags packed you freaking moron. You'd be best off just disappearing in the night. Take the money you stole from this organization and go drink umbrella drinks on some remote island.

Who to blame MDA OR Jim for hiring coaches that allow their players to dictate their own playing time. MDA's been around this league a longtime he should know when to rest his players. Dam the guy himself was a player and he should know how taxing playing 35-38 minutes a game is let alone 42-48 a game.

There is no way he's back next season if Kobe tore his achilles. The fans will force the FO to push him out or there will be a massive uproar at Staples.

MDA has lots of faults, definitely. But to be fair, Kobe's 48 mins playing time should be Kobe's demand. And we treat those few games like playoffs games, so 8 man rotation is reasonable at this point.

Ran one of the GOAT's career into the ground to save his own skin by making the playoffs at any cost. Despicable.

He'll use the excuse that they were trying to make a playoff push, but he's handled Kobe's minutes extremely poorly all season long, and really it never seemed to weigh on his conscience even a little bit.

I just can't wait until he's gone.

I need to see D' Antoni gone next year. Period. Worst hire I've ever seen. Just a total jerk from day one, a terrible fit, a coach whose system had to be completely ignored for us to have any success, and then ran Kobe into the ground. :disagree:

I said earlier today in a post that this game we needed help at the guard position against GS. I didn't care if it was Duhon or Morris or both. I freaking said that for the record because I knew our guards were going to get pulverized and need some rest. Screw this coach. :mad1:

I honestly don't believe this gets him fired, Jimmy is ready to move on with Dwight if you ask me.

You would think after the first two times Kobe fell down D'antoni would give him SOME sort of rest, but no, and the 3rd times was a nightmare.

From Kevin Ding:

Did the decision by Kobe and Mike D'Antoni not to rest contribute to this severe injury? D'Antoni said: "I will second-guess it and look at it, but he is an incredible competitor and it happened -- and we will go forward."

You look back and just look at how many minutes he logged in the previous 3-4 games. It was insane. Mike Brown did the same thing last year. These last 2 years he's been ran ragged and the last two coaches didn't overrule him. Crazy.

How many of these games do Lakers lose if Kobe plays 6-8 less minutes/night? No one knows, but I'd say they're not in 8 seed if he sits

^ Personally I don't buy that, especially if we had a coach who knew how to do just that...COACH. But on a separate point what's more important? Getting into that 8th slot when all 7 of your players have zero left in the tank or possibly costing one of the GOATs their career?
