From 3 hour practices before games to throwing alley oops in practice as a drill, I bet the team is liking this a whole lot better.

I cant believe there were some people on here who thought even after Mike Brown's firing this team wouldn't do so well and that "they didnt fit together" or whatever nonsense...we just whooped the candy azzes of two potential 1st round opponents with ease and we didn't even have our starting PG or coach with us. Its addition by subtraction, Mike was holding the team back, once he was gone, everyone started playing comfortably and D'Antoni encouraging players to play to their strengths is the best coaching advice you can give to this group.

its honestly so simple. idk how mike didnt understand (probably bc he never played in the nba). the guys are just playing ball and having fun. most of the guys are vets and over the past few years have been playing so hard and trying to win more than anything that they forgot to have fun. this is their passion and they look like theyre having fun now. watching their reactions to eachother in games and also in practice they genuinely enjoy eachothers company and playing with eachother is becoming seemless.

this team has so much talent that all they really have to do is do what comes naturally. this team was built to fit perfectly together. not forced like miami..it eventually worked for them but the players had to change their game and take a step back or forward. everyone on our team does what they were doing when they were the #1 on their own teams so no heads are butting. Dantoni and Bernie understand that players just need to go out there with the right energy and have fun and thats it. right now its pick up games with some new sets running dantonis offense. imagine when nash is back and dwight is 100% and D gets better....it'll be so much fun.

this is easily the most fun the lakers have been to watch in a long time. when was the last time we put up this many points and shot this well and had this many dunks. great product being put out

Mike Brown was the worst Laker coach I've ever seen. Worse than Del Harris, worse than Randy Pfund, worse than Dunleavy and Rambis gets a pass because he was a rookie coach and he had to take over at mid-season.

Hamblen may have been worse, but he also gets a pass because he never wanted to be a head coach and just ended up finishing that year off by default ("keeping the coaching seat warm" as he said, for Phil).

This. You could tell that Mike Brown just sucked the life out of his players. Too much confusion, and "wtf?" looks from even the veterans. Mike was not the guy to inspire greatness, or "rally the troops". I love the Lakers, but it for some reason I hated watching the Mike Brown coached Lakers. It's great to see them back to normal, they look loose, they look like they're having fun, and most importantly they're winning games.

I can't believe people were saying Mike didn't get a fair shot. How many more game did he need to lose? If we left him in for 5 more games we could kiss the season goodbye.

I agree on the Mike Brown coached Lakers, everything was grind it out or it was a loss. Never a blowout, never anything to really get your hopes up for.....

Now with this offense and MDA, whether or not we win a title remains to be seen, but from the looks of things the players are happy and seem to be building confidence in each other now. And on top of that this team is beyond exciting to watch. If the rest of the season is anything like the past two games, the season is going to be one of the most entertaining ones in awhile.

NBA power rankings has us at #7 right now. Here is their comment:

t's unclear why the Lakers want to replace Bernie Bickerstaff, who went 4-1 as head coach, but the Mike D'Antoni era will likely begin Tuesday against Brooklyn. The Bickerstaff era will be defined a mix of improved offense (especially the last two games), improved defense, improved post-game quotes, Pau Gasol's corner 3-point attempt, and Kobe Bryant's first triple-double in two years.

It seems they are somehow not aware that MDA is the coach and is practicing with the team. :man3:

^Yeah they mentioned that D'antoni coached them before the game and during halftime in the last two games. He's just not on the side lines because of his mobility.

As the board's biggest Magic critic, I don't feel any anger in seeing Magic happy that we are doing better.

Is D'Antoni still the better choice over Phil in the long run? That question hasn't even come close to being answered, and won't be answered for a while.

True, we don't know how Dan Tony will do or how Phillip would of done, but Magic and the rest of the eff around crew need to give Dantony a chance before going on ESPN and Twitter to WMC.

Even though the defensive stats at the end of the game look horrible, when you look at critical stages of the game, the uptempo pace favors us so well. Mainly because we have so many versatile offensive options but the opposing defense looking demoralized no matter how hard they tried to stop us. Look at each of last 2 games 3rd quarters the defenses play us differently AND STILL we scored on them. Opening up the 4th in both games we've pushed the lead and pulled away mid way through, we've been up double digits most of the time. Teams clawing and expending energy trying to cut down the deficit, eventually run out of gas. Harden looked really defeated in that 4th Q, everyone was scoring ilke crazy and no matter what he did it wouldnt matter since we just got our way.

Gasol and Kobe threw game 2 and game 4 away. His game plans in that series werent bad. They played great D the whole series except for game 1. I also think Bynum not being able to get the ball on fronts killed us.
