^^ Hmm. Well, it is what it is. He sucked as a coach in NY. He isn't exactly burnin' it up here either. Not sure if those were Knicks' fans chanting that because of his tenure there, just taunting him with his newfound failure because they are mean spirited New Yorkers or if those were Laker fans at the game voicing their opinion. I have no idea.

One of the worst coaches in the league record wise if he never had nash as a player. Its a shame that an organization can be so stupid and not have stumbled upon this. What do they do when they look up a coaches resume? Popularity?!?! WOW!!!

Jerry definitely had a hand in the hire since he wanted the return of Showtime, but Jim was more than happy to support the decision since he was never going to hire Phil anyway.

i'd love to join the easy party and blame d'antoni but it's easy enough for me to see the players he's being forced to play meaningful minutes out there and i'm not really willing to blame him

duhon couldn't be gotten rid of faster in orlando
morris lol didn't take long to permanently bench him
Hill never been a huge fan. rebounder but plays no defense and is seemingly confused with what to do after a rebound
meeks is streaky
jamison is old and streaky
Ebanks is just bad offensively and mediocre defensively
ron artest is just bad in general. he'll show up some nights offensively but stiff legged ron is done defensively

ya those are the guys that are playing. so i'm not really willing to take the easy claim and say it's the coach. watching the games its not difficult to see we are inferior talent wise. these players are either inconsistent or just terrible. most of them just terrible.

what your seeing now is what the heat would have looked like in 2011 had wade or bosh gotten injured for a serious amount of time and it was basically lebron and wade or lebron and bosh.

we knew we weren't deep, and the last thing we could afford was injuries, yet 3 out of our main rotation guys are gone, 2 out of our 4 best players. Hill needs to go, and go for a legitimate wing, someone who doesn't make me want to punch myself in the testicles. and artest needs to permanently become a 4 because the penguin can't defend 3s anymore

This is turning into a nightmare. I was upset when they hired Antoni, but I really didn't think it would be this bad. He should be fired as soon as possible. Here is another quote from Dave McMenamin's article on ESPN:

That is just swell! The Lakers only have three players who thrive in the post, so I can see why Laker management thought Antoni would be a good fit, absolutely. :bang:

As of now , I fail to see the differences between MDA and Brown ... there are similarities in terms of trying at all costs to fit players into a pre-established system regardless of these players skills instead of adapting this system to the skills this roster has ... same result : players aren't buying into the coach system

D12 isn't obviously happy with it and Kobe seems to have some doubts too as his answer during the SAS interview was : " I'm sure he's willing to adapt if things don't work out " , translation : " he better adapt"

wcsoldier81 - you see no difference because the only real difference there ever was is that MDA had Nash as his ball pounder when he had success and Brown had a young LBJ as his ball pounder when he had success..... running everything thru P&R sets is simpleton basketball, hardly genius..... genius is how you use your other guys in creating high quality shots for them so they can be successful, not handing the ball to your most creative player and asking the other guys to stand and watch 2 man basketball hoping he's good enough to involve everyone.....ANYONE can do that as a coach lol..... that's pure HS crap.

I give Brown more credit though..... at least he was smart enough leading into this season to see this team needed a half court offense dedicated to getting the ball down low and controlling pace and spacing to be in position to defend vs the transition. They still didn't weren't running it well (shooting % is a mirage sometimes, it's more about where the shots are coming from and when within the offense so floor balance is established) but at least they were within a system that could fit roster even if not ideal for Nash. Now we have the ideal Nash offense with well, no Nash....... but one that doesn't fit the REST of the roster........ ridiculous.

This guy is EXACTLY who I thought he was......... the only hope I had is that this roster had too much talent in key areas for MDA to make it any worse.................... I was dead wrong there............ he has taken a roster and races towards playing it to it's weaknesses.....

Hopefully when Nash gets back MDA can become the coat riding "offensive genius" he's always been and the Lakers can at least get back to respectable position.

This teams success will be directly tied to if NASH, not MDA, figures out a way to involve Howard and Gasol a heck of lot more than they are being used now which should lead to better offensive flow all around. especially Gasol as an offensive minded player, his effort on the other end is directly tied to his comfort and success on the offensive end. If this team does not figure out how to utilize these bigs than this team is no more better than a run of the mill team just fighting for a playoff spot with spotty offense and even spottier defense.

That's fine.. So run the pick & roll with Nash & Pau. Dwight will still get his 18 per game & Pau will stop shooting jumpers all the time & get some confidence, making great passes for easy buckets off the roll.. I'm perfectly fine with Dwight owning the block & Pau being the roll man.

i truly have my doubts that MDA can alter his offense to take advantage of the personnel that we have...this is what scares me most about the rest of the season

he's just gonna keep trying to force a system that's not built for the players on the team

we're stuck with this guy...let's just hope he figures it out...soon

I gave D'Antoni the benefit of a doubt by thinking he would adjust his schemes to fit this team. Looks so far he hasn't or has no idea how. The caveat is he has no one at the point to do it for him. Duhon is NOT starter material and we all know about Morris...
