Mike D'Antoni Discussion: RESIGNS AS LAKERS COACH (184)

Brilliant rotations by MDA, gotta give him credit where credit is due. Much better than Brown in that aspect. I wonder what he does when a steve gets back. Morris is better defensively, but duhon is the better "point guard".

In his press conference he sounded like he had a major man crush on Blake. One good thing about D'antoni is he plays guys that perform. If Blake comes back & looks like Nash Jr. he'll get the minutes, if not, Duhon & Morris will get a shot. He benches guys for the right reasons.

Okay I'm confused, you're struggling to score, you have Meeks who just netted you 7 treys in the last game and you sub in...Ebanks? Who barely played? Am I missing something here?

As good as MDA's rotations was last game, tonight was just downright horrible.

Ebanks? Where the hell did he come from? :man3:

Duhon getting torched by Nelson (though Morris wouldn't have fared any better)

No Hill

Not subbing in for Dwight.

Rotations could have better (should have played the bench more ) .... but I'm going to laugh if I read the main reason this team sucks is the coach

dunno why ebanks was even on the floor at all.

that funky sub in the 4th q may have contributed to the loss also.

I thought that he should have subbed Dwight back for Pau when Orlando went for "Hack a dwight" with the off ball fouls. When Orlando did this with 4 minutes left and Dwight wasn't making his free throws, it cost the lakers 4 possessions.

yup really thought Pau or hill should have been in. Meeks needed more minutes not Ebanks. as much as I like Ebanks and want minutes for him I don't at th expense of Meeks minutes. also keeping guys coming in keeps them fresh and he didn't do that tonight.

defense was why we lost and Kobe not getting guys involved early and then not even at all in the end.

is it just me or is mike d desperate to force fit the offense onto this team? for being such a offensive genius, i would have thought he'd figure something to do with the pieces on this team.

instead, all he wants to do is have jamison run up and down the court and put up 3's. does he realize that even when nash gets back that he can't play all game? we're going to get killed running this system with blake running the point.

Hill DNP ? Really?
Meeks got little to no run as well.

So was Ebanks being showcased tonight cuz that's the only explanation I have for him getting some extended playing time out of the blue.

I liked his rotations to start the game, but that ended really quickly. Meeks goes off last game and then barely plays? If you don't want to take Kobe out then leave him in at the 3 with Meeks at the 2. Hill could have been used just to give Dwight/Pau a break. Especially since Pau can't play past 15 minutes it seems.

D12 and Kobe should never play 12 minute stretches. If you don't trust your bench in the regular season, you're just waiting to get a beat down in the post season.

We win and look good when we win, when the starters aren't playing 40 minutes, the bench is mixed in with the starters and the bench has a chance to get out there and play, we look good.

The bench pushed the lead to 7, immediately Jamison/Meeks come out and the lead disappears in less than 2 minutes.

Trust your bench. Jamison/Meeks/Hill can play, let them play.

It's looking like we are going to have to out score our competition to win this year. I don't see this defense getting any better. Hill is going to sit in favor of Jamison for offensive purposes and he's worse than Pau at the 4 on the rotations. It looks like Kobe is going to average 36 minutes and thus will rest on the defensive end and be sapped in the 4th quarters and Dwight will be worn out as well trying to cover everyone on the opposing team.

I had my concerns about MDA fixing our issues because they involve the end of the floor I'm not sure he understands...

To those that wanted Phil to coach this team, I think the result would still be the same. This team after our last championship, have lost the desires or just over the hill.

This team needs an attitude adjustment. They clearly dont come to play every night. It needs to be brought to their attention their record and the fact they've blown a quarter of the season. Time to get the teams attention. Take Pau out of the starting line up & replace him with Jamison or Hill. At least then they will get a boost on energy. Teams know now out work them and you'll win cause they rely heavily on talent and dont play hard for 48 minutes consistently.

True. I don't know if Phil would fare any better teaching the Triangle in-season like this. Kobe would probably be doing most of the ballhandling anyway. Metta won't be shooting as consistent and Pau would still be the same. Dwight will still be building a brick house at the FT line.
