I can't stand Pringles and want him gone, but it's silly to fire him at this point. The roster has been decimated by injuries and we were never going anywhere this season anyway. Might as well make him work for his money and replace him when it actually matters.

Hopefully Mitch just wanted to talk over a trade that's in the works with D'antoni.. There isn't a coach out there that would get more out of the personnel we have right now.

I'm going to agree, I can't stand 'Antoni, but I don't see a single coach out there that could get more out of this current roster. Fire him if we get a title contending roster put together somehow, and a better coach becomes available. There's no point in firing him, still having to pay him, and bringing in someone who will do no better.

We overachieved early, and injuries have killed us lately, that's not really on the coach. Whatever Mitch and 'Antoni are discussing I'd hope it was personnel moves. I don't think there's a chance he'll be fired either, it would make no sense, no coach out there could get more out of the players who are actually seeing the floor right now.

We're a team of all role players, our backup PG is from the D-League, Farmar is still working back off injury, we lost Henry this game, and have been without Kobe, Pau, Blake, and Nash a lot of the time now. I'm not saying we'd be great if healthy, just that we'd be in the hunt for the 7th or 8th seed, we were playing solid ball right before Farmar went down, then again before Blake and Kobe went down. Then again though, this 'closed door meeting' was probably nothing at all.

Yup, it's probably a trade idea. Or two. :man1:

We're accidentally tanking. :man10:

Who cares who the coach is right now? No coach is going to turn around a roster who's best player is Nick Young. We just really can't catch a break the last couple years, but guess what? That's the price you pay sometimes for greatness. We've had an incredible 17 year run with Kobe. Now we deal with some of the downfalls of having an aging star.

@mcten: D'Antoni on X. Henry: "He’s sore, but we hope it’s not bad. But, being a point guard, we don’t know. He might be out a couple years."

You're hilarious Mike. :man11: Stuff like this is why I want him gone next season, there must be a reason all our PGs can't stay on the floor.

I don't think the fact that all of our PG's have been injured has anything to do with D'antoni. It's bad luck combined with old age and players who have had a history of being injury prone.

Please stop playing shawne williams so much. He sucks.
Every time I begin to ask, "Is he really as great as I think he is?" ...He proves that he is.
Every time I begin to wonder...He proves it...That is why I won't lose hope in him.
You know who I am talking about.

The terrible defense and lack luster effort and losing streak (Utah excepted) is a reflection on the coach. Also, I hate his offense of jacking up threes. Time to let Kurt Rambis take over.

I agree. They need:

1. A more traditional offense, which means they need a new coach;
2. Enough excuses about the roster, we went through this with Brown which bought him time only to be fired at the beginning of the season;
3. Enough with the "stretch 4"; let's have a true power forward. Hill can handle that;
4. Get 2 guys in the post for high percentage shots, not 1 soft guy and the stretch 4 on the 3pt line. Hill, Kaman and Gasol should be able to handle that;
5. Slow the damn game down and sprint when appropriate, no more helter skelter haul a$$ up and down the court shooting 3's then getting torched on transition defense. At lease leave that to the 2nd team to do a la the "Killer B's" a few years ago;

If you think the 1st half of the season has been long, wait until after the All Star break when the other teams will be making a run for playoff seeding, meanwhile MDA will still be rotating Williams or Kelly to see which is the better stretch 4 . :man10:

Antoni shouldn't get mad for his team defensive effort, he doesn't coach any and besides I thought that was Rambis job? He's terrible, just like his Minn days as HC.

Rambis has become a pretty good coach. He is Phil's #1 protégé. The issue now is that MDA needs to hold the team accountable for defensive assignments. Unfortunately it's not in his DNA to hold them accountable for anything but making shots, so they don't feel like they have to try on the defensive end.

Not going to bag on MDA at this time. Really not fair with the injury list as it is, I mean, who expected the Lakers to be starting their 6th point guard of the year before the All Star break?

That said, sometimes one finds players that way: throw 'em in the water and see who makes it to the shore. Marshall might be such a find.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

MDA is the perfect coach for tanking this season. He looks like he's still trying out there with all of his lineup changes.

Antoni gets all the heat for the lack of D but isn't that Rambis department? So what if he was Phil's #1 protege, he failed miserably in Minn and he'll fail miserably here too if he got the HC job.
