Mike D'Antoni Discussion: RESIGNS AS LAKERS COACH (184)

Re: Mike D'Antoni Discussion: "I was an idiot..." (155)

Postby LTLakerFan on Fri Apr 11, 2014 12:19 am

While I was having to get my fix on Lakersground while CL was under cyber attack from the Ruskies, Chinese, N. Korea or Iran this week, some were of the opinion that Mitch making the public statement that the Lakers F.O. will NOT consult with Kobe about coaching decisions, was in fact to keep it from appearing he had any say in Dan's firing if they do it. Makes sense to me.

i didnt even think of it that way...I'm glad Mitch said that now. Very smart, in case they actually let him go. But, if they DONT let him go...then I'm really worried. :bang:

Is 'Antoni a liar or truly that clueless? Yesterday he said he doesn't know who Embiid is, just now he said he thought we had the same record as the Jazz after this win. He said he thought we were tied and they'd flip a coin to see who gets more ping pong balls. :man11: Come on, there's no way your coach doesn't know the records of these 2 teams.

Just like he didn't know about Nash's 10th game to ensure we were paying his full contract.

Damn You Mike D for leaving Nick in the game when he was hot :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :mad1:
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

I truly, truly hope so realdeal. He's been nothing but bad news and bad luck since he was hired. Just dump this guy and his bad mojo.

I tried to sit down and really calculate out the reasons for him to stay versus the reasons for him to leave... I couldn't come up with anything that stuck for him to remain with the team...

Pros:
- save money
- maybe we draft a PG and he's the best guy for a PG

Cons:
- everything else and then some

And even with those pros are we really saving money? Just the money the team would make with grateful fans would make up the 4 million. :man10:

And if we draft a PG is D'Antoni the ONLY coach who can make that kid better? And what about the rest of the team?

It just doesn't make any sense to keep him. It really doesn't.

This. Although I am afraid we will keep him until summer 2015. :man6:

There's speculation that Laker brass don't want to publicly look like a turnstile for head coaches and they don't want to be on the hook for $$$ paying for another not being there. I have a bad feeling that this will be the case and Coach Hee Haw will be retained. So far, Young and Marshall have voiced support of him.

Not even Nash, Kobe, and Pau stood up for him and they're the ones that matter most. Throw in Hill and Kaman as voices against. Not to mention the rising tide of angry fans.

That speculation will turn to dust some time after the season. You don't save money by keeping him because fans will leave in droves. The opportunity cost here is sizable.

the only reason this idiot was even hired was because of nash

who managed to play one game a month only to cash in his check. this team is such a mess and the cleanup should start at the top with dantoni

No timeline for clarity on Mike D'Antoni's Lakers future, I'm told, but there is a push from his side to resolve sooner rather than later
